He just takes a couple of plays here and looks at them and seems to think that is why we are rushing to the line many times and then taking our sweet time getting the play off - because the coaches don't trust Franks to do much.
Franks definitely doesn't have that field vision some QBs have that would see a RB was open for a play instead of throwing into double coverage etc. I think the only thing Franks has improved on much from last season is not running out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage.
I started to reply to his running play analysis last night which I though was spotty showing he did not even see what plays were being run. This analysis is much better, but not perfect.
1. Overall I am not sure how much reading Franks is doing. He may not be given all the options to read the open man that the analyst is doing.
2. In the first play, I agree that Scarlett was open. I am less sure that Franks' read was bad. A safety arriving late does not mean the post was not open and a good confident throw would not have been a TD. Unfortunately Franks' throw was short and maybe a bit late.
3. On the second play, I also agree there were several open guys on the four man side. I again suspect that Franks was told to throw to the one man side to avoid throwing into congestion. Of course people see that on film and cover the four with 4 and the one man side with 2.
