Boston College football announced Tuesday that Phil Trautwein has been named its new offensive line coach. He replaces Justin Frye, who has Yahoo! Sports's Pete Thamel reported yesterday will join Chip Kelly's staff at UCLA.

“We are excited to have Phil and his family rejoin our staff at Boston College,” head coach Steve Addazio said in a press release. “He is familiar with our players and our program and it will be a seamless transition with him back at The Heights.”

Trautwein, 31, played offensive line at the University of Florida when Addazio coached that position there, where he earned a maser's degree in educational leadership. He won two national championships for Florida during that time. He was an undrafted free agent with the Saint Louis Rams in 2008 and bounced around the league to four teams.

He's a native of Voorhees, N.J. and has coached as a grad assistant at BC under Addazio from 2013 to 2015. He coached special teams and tight ends at Davidson. He was going to coach offensive line at Yale this season before deciding to return to BC.
