We all remember the legends. But who were the guys so awful they were legends in their own right?
Couple of rules.
1. The guy had to be a starter and best available player. So no starting because of injury guys. EG Skyler Morningweg
2. Go from the 80s on.
3. Explain why
Mine has to be Dee Webb. The guy was guaranteed to whiff at safety and worth 1 loss per year by himself.
Let's see:
Shane Matthews was drafted into the NFL.
Danny Wuerffel was selected in the NFL draft.
Doug Johnson was picked in the NFL draft.
Jesse Palmer was drafted into the NFL.
Rex Grossman was selected in the NFL draft.
Ingel Martin was picked in the NFL draft.
Tim Tebow was drafted into the NFL.
Jacoby Brissett was picked in the NFL draft.
Jeff Driskel was selected in the NFL draft.
So over a long stretch of time there is one UF multi year starting QB who was not picked in the NFL draft. To make matters worse this problem child who no longer has his teaching certificate was the first step away from the 1990s meritocracy that was UF football to giving away starting jobs. That move away from meritocracy has led UF from an established power to a program that has losing records every few years. And sure it took some time with some championship highs along the way, but the recruiting, signing and knuckling under to this kid and his family was the first step to where UF is now. So to me he is by far the worst Gator ever and it is not even close.
