Report: Auburn makes Kevin Steele highest-paid defensive coordinator in nation

On Wednesday, Auburn announced a new three-year extension for defensive coordinator Kevin Steele, and according to ESPN’s Chris Low, Steele’s new deal, which runs through 2022, makes him the highest paid defensive coordinator in the nation making $2.5 million per season.

Steele’s salary increase pushed him past Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables and Texas A&M defensive coordinator Mike Elko. Former LSU coordinator Dave Aranda, who was recently hired at Baylor, made $2.5 million as the highest paid in college football in 2019.

Stuff like this is why the barn will never catch the tide!

It smacks of desperation...

He’s the best in the conference with Aranda gone . That’s a hefty price to pay though .

Whehhh it sure takes a genius to stop a freshman QB with the arm of Trey Burton.

I was looking at it the other way - we did pretty well against the newly highest paid DC.

and may I say I love the retro avatar.

it’s like an NFL throw back jersey game

Our offense did reasonably well once Trask came in against all defense... except the dogs. Needs to fix that ASAP.

It's fun every now and then.

It also makes @Concrete Helmet twitch and that is worth it alone. It also seems to feed his "memory" that I was a big Butters fan, as everyone who was here no doubt remembers crystal clearly and no one will recall complaining about me laughing at Butters and bytching about him incessantly.

Fvkking with Crete isn't really hard, but it is fulfilling.

Well... none of those teams HAD a defense though. Just sayin.

I think Trash did a 1000 times better than was imaginable and will do fine next year, but we do have some disastrous teams in the SEC East right now.

I don't know much but even I know that "donk" was not a Butters fan! The constant braying was maddening...

That UGA game was more on Mullen(playcalling) than Trask imo. Despite what some will tell you Mullen is usually a better than average play caller but that may just be me measuring him against the 2 duds before him. In fact he is good for about half of a game usually but does seem to hit some flat spots......2nd & 3rd quarter usually.
