Son1 played for his AAU team ‘81-‘83. I drove a couple of players down to the state championships in Orlando one summer. Rackley was the one-armed guy from Altha wasn’t he? He drove Moten all over the state for Norm Sloan.
Haven’t seen Joe since the Silver Slipper closed, I guess. Good guy.
The one-armed guy was Rudolph Rackley from Altha. He was a “booster” and tight with Sloan. Never knew where he got his money, but he had it, tucked up under his missing arm! There was a little cafe in Quincy called Luten’s that Joe and Sloan took a couple of players being recruited, Andrew and Horace McMillan (who wound up at UGA) for instance. It was a big deal to run up on them back in those days.

I turned it off when I saw the offense is the exact same. Against legit competition, it will be a problem like always. Even the announcers said there was too much standing around. They attributed it to not being able to practice. Nope, that's Whitey's offense.

Yep. I ain’t watching that shiit no more til he’s gone. He should go coach in Ukraine or somewhere nobody knows basketball.

I haven’t watched much the last few years for obvious reasons. Watched most of yesterday’s game and it appeared to be much of the same. I get that they weren’t able to effectively practice/scrimmage but it was ugly just the same. We only won that game because of the massive talent differential.

“Mr. Rudolph J. Rackley, age 88, of Altha, FL passed away Thursday, December, 29, 2011 in Blountstown. Rudolph was born on January 10, 1923 in Calhoun County and had lived here all of his life. He was a retired farmer, educator and coach of high school athletics in the AAU organization. Rudolph received his BS degree from the University of Florida majoring in Agriculture Education. He was widely known for his athleticism and his love with anything associated with the University of Florida. Rudolph was preceded in death by his parents, Jay W. Rackley and Floy Branton Rackley. He was a member of the Altha United Methodist Church in Altha.”

Just a good old country boy Gator it seems.

“Nobody suffers victory like Gator Nation.” Pat Dooley

One of the very few solid quotes he ever made.

Being a process based individual I believe that great play leads to victory, poor play might get some wins but eventually either you run into a decent team or luck runs out.

If we get the many issues improved that will be nice and perhaps it was just the first game issues, if not White should be replaced. He has a deep and talented team, coach them to play.

Perhaps you haven’t watched the last 3 years?

I switched over to the Steelers/Ravens game at the half - couldn’t watch anymore. Only checked the score on my phone a few times after that. Much better for the blood pressure.

It's looking more like Nembhard's problem at Fl. wasn't Nembhard. The kid looked good yesterday. His passing was excellent and he was a leader when the starter went down.
Fl.on the other hand looked like a Mike White Coached team, confused most of the day. I'm hoping for the best out of this team but the game against Army dims the light a little.

I waited a day to post my thoughts, so here goes:

Most bball teams struggle in the early season. Even Donovan's teams looked sloppy and suffered inexplicable losses at times--and those were with the benefit of full practice sessions and preseason exhibition games vs widely overmatched competition to get them ready for bigger games. Add to that the fact Army had worked out the early season jitters already and had 3 games under their belt...well, the early struggles make a little more sense.

After the first 5 minutes, we comfortably outplayed them, even if it remained close with them hitting clutch 3s throughout the game.

My main positives were that KJ looks like he's still one of the best players in college basketball (he hit a timely 3 to put the lead in comfort territory late); and several other talented freshman from last year look like they've taken the soph leap (Mann was one of our best players, Payne looks improved, and while Lewis struggled for most of the game...had a decent stat game when I looked it up). Appleby was another who looked like a liability in the first half, but had a big part in our eventual second-half victory. Castleton looks like a good transfer pickup and had a number of timely rebounds to extend possessions. Making 9 of 10 FTs at clutch time was huge--especially since we were so bad at it in the first half.

Biggest negative was that we were extremely slow in our defensive shifts and gave up tons of wide-open 3s (that Army's players usually hit). Clean that up and this is a blowout.
