Maybe Evers is a pocket QB and doesn't want or can't run well which makes him not wanted by the new coaching staff. I know from watching ULL that they like a mobile QB and he may not fit that mold. He could be more like Trask or Franks and running is something he does only if he has to.

I thought Evers is a top rated mobile DT QB. No?

The problem is he's getting offers and attention from other schools(I bet most of them weren't 6-6 this year either), while we're off in Texas offering 3*'s without any contact reportedly.

Trying to give benefit of the doubt to Napier here, getting harder with each decommit from guys who held steady through the coachless period. But maybe Gibson had already informed Napier he was out? I know Gibson said he's waiting for contact... if he is, unless there's some super-secret character issue only Napier knows about, it's inexcusable.

If we're supposed to "trust the process" we need signs that the process makes sense.

Every single Gator board I've looked at is reeling right now. This isn't unique to GCMB. He's not building anything. He's actively setting us back 3-4 years and then will ask us to be patient because of a talent deficiency. This is WM 2011, Strong at Texas, Rodriguez at Mich all over again. It doesn't work. It's never worked.

You may be correct in general, but this is not strictly true. It has worked before. The Bear at A&M was famous for it. I had a close friend d at Bama when the Bear came to Bama. He used players he didn't want as tackling dummies to free up their scholarships. Please don't say anything obvious, like this is a different generation. I know that. I merely note that your absolute dictum about never working is historically inaccurate.

Is that your suspicion, or ... ? It seems classless to tell a long time highly rated commit that he would not be welcomed or allowed to join the class. Why not just say "there will be two QBs and you can be one of them.. we welcome you". If it doesn't work out he transfers.

I cannot grasp not contacting athletic skill players. If they are football players find a place for them. If you have any back office staff retained and they can contact recruits then make that their job. Who could not find a minute on the runway to call or text commits?

A lot of talk here about the portal. While I think it will help some in being able to address a poor transition class, there are negatives about it too.

I think we all can probably agree that the team is most competitive when he have maxed out our 85 available scholarships. You can bring in 25 initial counters each year which applies to both the recruiting class and transfers. So with those two numbers that means you need to average 3.4 scholarship years out of each initial counter.

So you can't just fill your roster with projects expecting to flush a bunch of them every year with backfill from the portal. You need two 4 or 5 year guys to balance out every Elijah Blades.

Im concerned about recruiting and losing people. I am in the "give it time" camp. The HC has been here 3 days. He has shown us he is trying to land people by going in home with as many as physically possible. He cant wave a magic wand. Give him at least 4 days.

I think most fans would have expected him to contact our top remaining recruit before random uncommitted 3 star fodder at the same position.

Its scary but it really is a good opportunity for players to come to Florida. Alot of new stuff is going on and the opportunity to play early should be a draw. Come on BN we are pulling for you.
