IRT Dexter. (Sorry, Wanted to respond.)
To me, that's the right way to do it. Dexter played his AZZ off, left it all on the field. Gave it all for the Orange and Blue. Especially, Playing in the bowl game. That's Gator through and through.
I would much rather see a player not come back for his senior year, than come back for his senior year and sleep walk through the season, worrying about his NFL draft stock. Or, Have a promising breakout sophomore year, then tank his Junior year.
In this new era of NIL, I'm thinking players that love their school, love the Orange and Blue and play with heart for the ol' alma mater, are a relic of the past.

If not for the holding call at the end of his last drive, they probably punch it in for a 90 yard TD drive. I think the Colts could live with that out of a rookie QB.

My favorite play was when he dropped back and, in a clean pocket, completely missed an open receiver on a 5 yard out. That’s the AR we know and hate.

Every scoring drive he leads this season, you get 5 days off. If at some point in the drive he also overthrows an open receiver, make it a full week.

I will admit that I'm annoyed at Richardson because he's the most maddening Gator player I personally dealt with in my 33 seasons watching them play. He just seemed at many times afraid, unwilling, or unable to mentally take advantage of the greatest physical tools we may ever see again in our lifetimes.
He has the ability to single-handedly win football games. When he takes a snap, you cannot turn away, because what may come at the next moment could be sensational, mind-blowing. I completely understand why the Colts got smitten, because there's never been a QB with a ceiling as high as his.
Unfortunately, the mental part of the position is far more important than the physical part. You can coach footwork, you cannot coach instinct. I don't really recall a QB that struggled mentally that suddenly had the light come on in the NFL. Instead, it's often schlubs like Brock Purdy, literally taken with the last pick in the draft, that you find out shockingly have the mentality to lead a team and make the right decisions when a huge DL is bearing down. The greatest two QB's in NFL history, Joe Montana and Tom Brady, were 3rd and 6th round picks.
I babble on to say this: my heart goes out to Colts fans. There is going to be a love/hate relationship like nothing they've ever experienced. AR will give them a taste of what he can do with something absolutely spectacular, followed up with a boneheaded play that even a Pop Warner QB wouldn't make. And beyond that, he proved to be an exceedingly poor leader at UF. Does that change in the NFL? If so, it will be the first I've seen it.

I really think coming back to F for another year would have been the best thing for AR's development. He was just so raw last year. I think he is going to get lit up like a christmas tree in the NFL and I don't think he has developed the mental fortitude to take it. Not saying that he would have at UF either, but I think his chances would have been better.

Would have been good for him IF the light would have come on. But I doubt it would have. Would also have been bad for UF, I believe.

I like Anthony and I wish him the best but I will be happy to have a QB that isnt looking cornfused and scared. Pulling hard for Fred Mertz.

I’ve pointed this out numerous times. His biggest problem is his completion percentage (53-54%). That has been the same all through high school and at UF. He had his high school staff, two staffs at UF, and his own private QB coach. We know he worked hard yet his lack of accuracy has stayed the same. I watched the colts game. The footwork was atrocious. He won’t fix that during the season.

Film was his worst enemy though. You could argue that he maybe goes higher than 4th if the draft were held the day after the Utah game. Too much of a gamble to put more out there. Everything was what could be. Another maybe helps him long term, but if you go Top-5 you have to take that. He can completely fail and be fine financially for the rest of his life.

Only if he invests wisely and avoids fleas. What's his fallback plan if he botches the NFL? He can't be an NFL analyst. Not enough playing success. He can't do color on SEC games. Not enough of a college track record. He can't even sell insurance in Gainesville, the ultimate fallback, because he never really endeared himself to UF fans.
