Hello all, I am new to GatorChatter and just wanted to introduce myself. I'm probably one of four or five fans stuck in Massachusetts but my heart is in Gainesville. I just needed somewhere to vent after that debacle of a game. That was so sorry.

I agree that the Del Rio interception was not his fault. The quick slant is often covered, but the pass was there and they receiver did not secure it. A perfect pass on a slant is really impossible to cover unless a LB can knock it down. It was a bit of a fluke from what I could tell. I think since Luke has been injured he has not been the same. He was average to below on his best day and he is scared now. He never threw a great deep ball, but now he is throwing late and into coverage. I'm not sure Appleby was any better from what I recall. He stunk it up in the 2nd half vs UT and was below average vs Vandy. I would love to see one of the freshman get worked into the fold. This will give game experience and will put separation between the Franks and Trask. We have a good QB coming in next season and they will all be true or redshirt freshmen if one does not play this season.
As far as running back I would like to see Scarlett and Cronk. I think Thompson is average. He had all this hype and he just runs into the offensive lineman's rear. His big plays today came against 3-men lines when AR was basically in prevent defense. I've never seen a back hit the hole slower than Thompson. Perine has hit the freshman wall or something. He has had no good runs in the last two weeks.
As far as the defense is concerned I think it is about to get ugly. With Davis and Anzalone out we will give up huge runs. We would probably be better to move Maye to LB and let Harris and Washington handle the safety duties.
The defense gets very little pass rush. Cox has never been a good rusher. Zuniga seems to be the best pass rusher, yet I don't know why Clayton is not in there on passing downs. Opposing QBs have way too long to look down the field unless we bring pressure.

Good synopsis.

(*Sigh*)..... Let's face it, this game didn't surprise anyone who's actually watched us play this year and took into consideration who we've played and how we've played them. In fact, it went pretty much as I, and probably many others, figured it would. I knew we were going to lose and I knew, like we have had a tendency to do the last half decade or so, that we would lose in a spectacularly inept fashion. It's who we are. It's our identity these days.

I don't know if it comes from having watched Gator football for so long or what, but I just had a feeling that we were going to do something stupid in our first drive, and by God once again the Gators did not disappoint. We're on our own 10 playing against one of the worst rushing defenses in college football who had given up over 500 yards on the ground in their previous game and we decided to throw the ball into tight coverage. Noice!

And like always we are the perfect tonic for what ails a struggling team. Have a bad QB who's struggling? Play the Gators and turn him into an All-American. Giving up massive yards on defense? Play the Gators and become a reincarnation of the Purple People eaters. It just goes on and on.

We're not going to get better. NOTHING points to that happening. NOTHING. Not recruiting, not game planning, not coaching, not players stepping up to lead, NOTHING. This program needs a sea change and the sooner the better. We will not beat LSU, or FSU, or whoever we play in our bowl game or possibly...(gulp)...a Muschamp lead USC.

We are a paper tiger and have been for 6 years.

Welcome!!! Feel free to vent and offer your opinions. But if you happen to be a pumper or constantly wear the O and B glasses, try not to be offended. Butters has been taking a beating around here all year and deservedly so!

Thanks for posting, cover. I'll come back and reevaluate the situation later (when I'm not so pissed). But I agree with your assessment.

I'm sorry but I don't know what a pumper, O&B glasses or Butters are. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer...

Good to have you with us. Stick around, school is in session and you'll soon learn the vocabulary that is lacking.

I think we have a guy who realizes he's getting paid no matter what, he doesn't seem to have any fire in the belly. Its rubbed off on the team. They are never prepared to play, the gameplan rarely makes much sense, and we never, ever change up what we're doing. Guy has no feel for the game at all in my opinion.

Nailed it. His "gee gosh gee golly, let's just show up, have fun and hopefully that will be good enough to win" act is VERY OLD!

No problem, sorry. A pumper is someone who always thinks the Gators can never do anything wrong and it is always someone elses fault, etc. O and B (means Orange and Blue Glasses) meaning the refs suck or we got a bad call, or we are never bad, it i was just bad luck etc or you never see things objectively b/c u are blinded by the O and B glasses.

Butters is Mac b.c he looks a little like and talks a lot like the character Butters from South Park b/c when he talks he makes zero sense. Mac is also known as Hee Haw:butters: or coach Yellow Teeth

Thanks so much FireFoley, I have no problem admitting when we are not playing/coaching well! Love the Butters reference too. personally I think he's a good guy but in way over his head in Gainesville or any SEC program. My wife actually asked me if he's a smoker because of the yellow teeth!

pumper = optimistic fan (sometimes blindly so)

O&B glasses = seeing everything from only a Gator fan's wishful point of view (Orange and Blue glasses)

"Butters", aka "Hee Haw", aka :butters: = McElwain

Well then you will fit right in b/c you obviously are intelligent and objective enough to have seen that Ole Hee Haw:butters:is not cut out to be a head football coach in a real football conference.

I miss S.O.S so much, I was at the UF vs Maryland Orange Bowl in 2002 when we waxed the Terps, it was a great game and the weekend was going great until Sunday morning when I was watching sports center and they said "Spurrier announced his intention to leave The Gators". Took all the joy out of the game/weekend. Does anybody think there's a real chance he would consider returning? I know he loves his Gators but I'm sure he and Jerri are enjoying his semi-retirement which he really does deserve but he's such a competitor he'd have to consider it, no? And it would be awesome having him back at the SEC media days with his snide, witty remarks. No one can get under a coaches/teams skin like he could, the master of the one liners.

Good night Gators. I'm going to remember those days when I rushed down to that little store in Macintosh to get the newspaper --you know the one that printed the news and pics of the 96 national championship. Those were great times; no internet and all this narcissistic selfie bull****. I guess that I'm living in the wrong time. But whatever, there is no excuse for playing second tier to the likes of Arkansas or anyone else for that matter. This is just ridiculous, and completely unacceptable.

A little light smoke about Mac losing the team. Really hope not but would not be surprised. Anybody know anything concrete? When you're soft on the expectations and have won some games, everything is hunky dory. When you lose, and badly I might add, for the second time this season, those guys that have been constantly reassured, petted and rubbed publicly when they should have been wearing the coach's footprints on their rumps aren't going to take responsibility. They'll usually eat the handler.

I really don't think we win another game the rest of the season cause our offense is HORRIBLE, we make no adjustments including changing our QB, our defense is bruised and battered now, and our defense is on the field for more than half the game so they are gonna get tired and give up plays. Muschamp's QB is playing really good for them so he's gonna beat us too. LSU and FSU will DESTROY us on the road just like Ark. Our guys will then just mail it in on the crap toilet bowl game we get in. So we will end up 6-6.

The pictures of Steve and the team laying on the 50 yard line after many, many SEC Championships, when you knew at the beginning of every season there was a great chance we would be playing in Atlanta representing the East, when you knew the recruiting class would be no lower than 5th in the country. When our second or third string QB could start at just about any team in the nation. I miss those days so much...
