McElroy likes it. That tells you.all you need to know.
A lot of people are happy to win 8 or 9 games over a modest time span, but it takes a special hungry coach willing to recruit heavily and teaches how to win, that wins early, and drives for championships. DM is not that kind of person!
Our O line had major issues that year if I recallI'm just not a pessimist. And no, I'm not stoned. I left the various message boards I was on (including this one) because I just couldn't stand the angst. Which, of course, the GatorSports message board was full of in 2009 when Mullen left and we were left with Addazio's shyt play calling.
Even in that year, when we were #1 the whole season, we had a lot of low scoring games (well, they were tense) : W at LSU, W at home vs Arky (I remember it, b/c I was there), W at SC. W against Mullen in his first year at MSU (OK, that wasn't low scoring, but our O played poorly). And, of course, the loss to Bama in SECCG. Only blowouts of good teams were UGA, FSU, and Cincy in Sugar Bowl.
So there had to be a difference between play calling in 2008 and 2009. And that difference was Mullen left and we were left with Addazio.
Back to hoping and praying !!!What a monumentally disappointing hire... Again...
Still, despite my current level of nausea, I really hope he proves us all wrong. I hope he can walk-back the unnecessary, inappropriate, and disparaging comments he and his wife have made about our fans and university - and prove to us that this is his dream job. I hope he can also prove he's not just a mercenary here for a 3 year pay-day and a big buyout. I hope he can recruit and develop elite talent. I hope he can install an offense that is fun, productive, and creates numerous exciting big plays each game (by design, not by dumb luck). I hope he won't lose any stupid, should-win, games (like he did annually at MSST). I hope he has an overwhelmingly positive record vs top 25 opponents (unlike what he accomplished at MSST). And I hope he can hire competent coordinators and staff that will help him achieve those goals.
I really hope he can do all of that. My confidence that he will be able to is admittedly quite low. However, once I finish puking, I will give him a chance. A very small chance, with a very short leash, and then I'll be calling for his head. He has a lot to prove - but I sincerely hope he does...
However, if he doesn't, then I really hope there are some major performance metrics required to meet that purported $7mm salary. Also, I hope there are some reasonable clauses to lessen the buyout we owe him down to almost nothing if (when?) we have to let him go (I.E. buyout severely reduced for things like sub .500 SEC record in any season, a loss to any non-Power 5 team, etc).
Back into the broken down RV we go... Let's see if it can get us anywhere...
SOS seems about as excited as Kiffin was in that FAU recruiting video...
I don't blame Mordor. I am happy for him and I hope to **** he brings excitement (and not the kind of excitement we've been having) to the football field. That might be the funniest part.
We wont pay the going rate for a fvkking decade until we are 4-8 then we run out and pay Sabanlike money to guy with a losing SEC record because we destroyed our brand with this penny pinching shyt!!!
I don’t agree with the sentiment that money is the number one factor. What makes you think he wants to be here? His wife has made it perfectly clear that she wants no part of Gainesville.
His pocketbook is what wants to be here.
