I guess you can read into it however you want but seemed pretty clear he was addressing the differences in coaching salaries over the years. It wasn't that long ago that Spurrier made history with his 2 mil/season salary with UF and now we have coordinators getting that much (lsu). It's a lot different now that everyone has million dollar salaries than before when it was a select few and those few jobs that could pay that high were coveted...now you can make that elsewhere so jumping jobs isn't as necessary to be financially set.
So when Spurrier was making 80x the average US salary @ his 2 million, that era was exponentially easier than when Saban is making 140x the average @ his 7 million. That increase is what made it more difficult? I don't think so.
Sounds like he is playing both sides of the fence (total Foley move by the way) and giving us the long con for an excuse 3 years from now so he doesn't get canned if Mullen flops. He'll give us the old "I told you guys 3 years ago about this." Now I do not think Mullen will flop, just seems like a milquetoast move to me.
