Patrick Surtain Jr. and Tyson Campbell will let the world know where they are going next Wednesday during an ESPN broadcast.

American Heritage athletic director Karen Sterns told 247Sports that the school while hold a National Signing Day ceremony at 9:30 a.m. ET for the two U.S. Army All-Americans. They will be joined on stage by Top100 defensive tackle Nesta Silvera, Top300 defensive end/linebacker Andrew Chatfield and others.

Surtain Jr. is believed to be down to LSU, Alabama, Clemson and Miami. He will spend the upcoming weekend in Coral Gables which is also the case with Campbell, who remains high on the Hurricanes and Georgia. Silvera is fresh off a trip to Tennessee and talking with Florida, but is believed to be solid on his pledge to UM. Chatfield on the other hand is considering Miami, Florida, Oklahoma and FSU. Some however think that the Gators hold the edge in the recruitment after he spent time in Gainesville although Mark Richt is looking to change that with his in-home visit this Wednesday.

Almost all the kids that are recruited are recruited as zero stars. Because they were recruited prior to being ranked by Rivals. If I remember correctly, rivals’ first ranking is not until their junior year. They don’t even offer five stars until the end of their junior season. What’s your point?
Your point is visible: put a cap on it. When the Pounceys stopped by Gainesville on the way back from Tallahassee, one was a three star. When they committed, one was a three star. Meyer AND the fan base thought they were great potential pickups. They were. We went nuts over a three star and we were correct. You presuming to correct SoCal who was more correct than you is point enough. Rivals correcting after the fact has always been ridiculous. Newton, by contrast, was a three star when committed, became a four star shortly after that (perhaps based on the fact that Urban liked him) and became a five star based on performance. Makes some sense to call him a five star. Not acknowledging a retroactive change is ridiculous. Urban knew talent. As his administration crumbled, he turned to recruiting the rankings.

His name should be Ancient Concrete.

He really, truly still believes his fvkkingn make believe math about Butters offense being great and that the 3 star FIU recruits are the same as Brandon Spikes and the Pounceys for whom we fought Clown Town and Bammer. You know, bc Spikes was a 3 star once and Butters Specials were 3 stars (and barely 3 stars using rivals point system) they day they signed.

I thought the Powell to TE thing was an aberration.

In between the pissing contest I'll try to post some recruiting info.

Here's something from Stewart Mandel on how the early signing period has affected the late signing period (discusses the scrub 3-star QB that Alabama recently offered):

How will the early signing period impact February’s signing day?

We’ll still see some of the pomp and circumstance from schools and fans celebrating their completed classes, but for most teams, it could be fairly anticlimactic. Most signed the bulk of their recruits in December.

It’s going to be a much bigger deal, however, for schools where new coaches recently took over. Florida State’s Willie Taggart signed just seven players in December and is expected to close with a flourish. Nebraska’s Scott Frost is expected to double the Huskers’ currently small class, while Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher is scrambling to salvage a class that suffered several major decommitments.

There’s another interesting element that our recruiting expert Tom Luginbill recently wrote about. In the past, schools had a specific number of spots it hoped to fill at each position, and since everything got decided the first week of February there wasn’t much reason to deviate from the plan. Now, Luginbill writes, some coaches are treating “second Signing Day” like a late-round NFL draft pick and attempting to sign the “best available,” regardless of position.

Essentially, everybody got a chance to reset their board in late December/early January, and you may now see some guys sign places that weren’t remotely in the picture previously. A good example: QB Brock Purdy of Gilbert, Arizona. A three-star recruit, Purdy’s only Power 5 scholarship offer as of Dec. 21 was from Kansas. Post-early signing period, however, he’s now being courted by Boise State, UCF, Texas A&M and … Alabama, which did not offer until Jan. 16.

As for your assertion about the Pounceys being twins and so on. Mike stayed an extra year to improve his draft status, because his brother was higher rated coming out of UF.

And Mike also started at DT as a true freshman.

But yes, even today, Maurkice is a better, more highly regarded player.

Butters would roll up in a rusted out El Camino with Nuss taking shotgun. Nord would be doing the worm in the truck bed....

Just a silly thought. That concept of the seat next to the driver being called shotgun stems from stagecoach days when the driver had a guard riding beside him with a shotgun. "Shotgun!".
