And yet, they never played at UF. Can you name any real UF success story play two sports. John Capel was great at track, but I wouldn't call him a good football player.

I applaud your effort, and he did have his moments, but I think most of us see that Demps is beyond a stretch.

Not saying it can’t be done. You gave two great examples, throw in Bo Jackson, Murray at OU. I guess my point is that he’s going to have to be really special to pull it off, or excel in one sport.

My expectation is that he’ll excel in baseball and be a backup QB, which is totally fine in my book

Didn't famous Jamie's play both sports? Didn't riley cooper play both sports? It's totally doable. Especially with baseball and football .

Just trying to think of the two sport guys:
Doug Johnson
Gavin Dickey
Cornelius Ingram

Not really anyone that stands out. Johnson was the most reviled QB in the SOS era. Dickey never did anything, and Ingram had one? good year. Any others?

The Capel guy ran track and Demps was a track guy as well. Don’t recall Capel having much of an impact on the football field though.

Yup, Demps is the only Gator to win national championships in two sports. For his football career, he averaged 618 yds/year, 6.8 yds/carry, and 6 TD's a year. Not bad for a back splitting carries. In track, he won multiple NC's, was an All American and went on to a silver medal in the 2012 Olympics. It's not a stretch to say there's not a school in the country that wouldn't jump at the chance for that kind of production.

From the outside it's doesn't appear football hampered his track career too much. He's still running today and won two meets in 2018. Not sure about track hurting football, he was always going to be limited by his size. That said, there's always been a market for a change of pace back in the NFL.

He used up his eligibility in b-ball and played one final year in football...he was not really a 2 sport athlete. Not sure how that exactly worked though

I'm guessing that was a baseball game, from what I can remember of him as a QB, wasn't good. Who was a better QB, Perry or Donald Douglas?
