It is almost like they TRY to de-emphasize spring practice now. It was always a HUGE deal back in the day, the most important thing innthe spring. Now you hear almost nothing.

I can see why Fooley wanted it deemphasized. It will still pull 10x the crowd of any nonrevenue sport though.

The spiel going around among coaches is that when they published lots on spring practices, a particular curmudgeon on a particular sports board tore asunder all their good works such that it generated too much poor-mouthed mood. So, to protect the morale of the players, less is said.
