Exactly, would've meant more to me if he'd made that same apology after the game. He did it intentionally and the video proved it, and he still wouldn't own up to it when it was pointed out to him after the game. He absolutely has nothing to lose coming clean with it now, had he done it earlier maybe there would've been a ton of pressure on Stoops to suspend him multiple games. I think he did suspend him for a half at some point after our game.

It was only a quarter suspension which was admittedly very lame. SEC should have actually stepped in and taken an official stand so that they made it clear this kind of thing is completely unacceptable.

What public is he relating to? He is a graduating senior with minimal pro prospects so I doubt that's his motivation. Seems more likely to me that this is an attempt to try and cleanse his legacy somewhat given that, for the most part, no one really cares about his career from here besides him and his family.

"Cleanse his legacy" ........ perfect description of PR, some might even call it "spin".

Meanwhile, bowden apparently needs to grow up. He punched a VT DE, pregame before the refs were on the field. When a UK coach tried to separate him from the crowd, Bowden pushed back at the coach. I know he's the best player they got, but I don't think I could put up with a player starting crap and especially getting physical with one of my coaches. That's a serious lack of self discipline and respect for others. Oh, and his postgame apology was about as sincere as anything booby bowden has ever said, so he must be related.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone apologize for a dirty play in my life. That has to count for something.

I guess it depends on how much you plan on living in that legacy. If the public he is ultimately trying to make peace with are his friends, family and the UK and SEC communities at large, then I applaud his wisdom and maturity in recognizing the value of a voluntary apology toward cleansing a reputation.

Exactly what I was thinking. The only way I'd have even thought it would be possible would be in the case of a player in the running for a round 1 or 2 NFL draft pick where they needed to try to clean up their reputation.

If he’d done when it happened, immediately after the game, after being called out on it later in the week then yeah, ok. Now? Like I said before...f*ck him.
