@AP: EXCLUSIVE: The New Orleans @Saints are going to court to keep secret hundreds of emails that allegedly show team executives doing public relations damage control for the area's Roman Catholic archdiocese amid its sexual abuse crisis. NFL’s Saints fight to shield emails in Catholic abuse crisis

@AP: Attorneys for about two dozen men bringing sexual abuse cases against the church say hundreds of emails they obtained through discovery show the @Saints aided the Archdiocese of New Orleans in its “pattern and practice of concealing its crimes.” (2/4)

@AP: The @Saints argue in court papers that emails between team executives and the area’s Roman Catholic archdiocese about its clergy-abuse crisis should be kept secret and not be “fodder for the public.” (3/4)

@AP: Attorneys for about two dozen men suing the church say the @Saints’ top spokesman and other personnel advised the archdiocese on “messaging” and how to contain the damage from a burgeoning sexual abuse crisis. Wow. Had not heard about this but this has the possibility of being a major scandal. And you know those emails are coming out. Just a matter of time. Crazy.

I don't get the connection between the team and the church? Does this mean some front office folks were committed Catholics and were approached about helping to suppress the scandal? Or was there some more obvious link that I am missing?

Saints nation will complain about it (because they complain about everything) the NFL will put in a new rule with a one year trial to review every email that could potentially be an issue. Then the league will show us all how stupid that rule and the btching/moaning the Saints fans complains were. Then it will disappear like nothing ever happened.

That’s on par to what Tampa had to do to justify drafting Winston. Just saying...

If true, there’s no other explanation other than people acting as “good Catholics”.

I’m not Catholic but I know the Cath church’s abuse is worse than you think and more widespread than imaginable. The leaders knew about it, intentionally protected abusers, and relocated pedophiles to prey on new populations of children.

Any NFL owners or employees involved in that should be banned for life. In referencing the church rapists and pedophiles, I assume “doing PR” = covering up.

I am nondenominational. I am a former Catholic. The Catholic Church has HUGE issues.

And as I have said MANY times... I am not a big NFL fan...I kinda pull for the Saints but nothing like The Gators.

And Seabee...can you defend tail hook? The Navy tried to cover that up. Yet hear you are.

Y'all's logic does not pan out...wrong is wrong...

And Durty that's something I don't kid about...sexual abuse.

I lean towards castration as a solution...so do you really want to know where I come down on things like this?

Heck no! I was 6 years old at the time but was so in tune with national news that I flew to Vegas to protest. I’m pretty much the original Greta Thunberg.
