UF to play Cal in 2026/27

Anyhow, I guess it's better than bringing in another 1AA team - but we lose a home game.

It sure doesn't excite me any...but then again I am living year to year nowadays and don't look that far ahead. I have to agree that someone you mentioned would have been more attractive.

That’s a lot of crappy ACC teams.

We're doing a home and home with Texas in '30 and '31.

True, but that's more of an outlier.

I know that's a lot of "crappy ACC teams", but they're also more in our recruiting territory. I see no benefits giving up a home game to play Cal (or Arizona State, Utah, Colorado, etc).

We should play Clemson, Penn State, OSU, Notre Dame, Texas, OU.

The majority of our games are in Florida which should be 90% of our recruiting territory.

Key word in your sentence, "should". These AD's don't want to do it unless it's a kickoff game/neutral site game.

So...if we're going to do this - and we are, there's already at least 4 or 5 of them scheduled - we should do it against teams in our region. That's just my opinion. I'm sure there's people who would rather play Purdue or Illinois than Utah or Colorado. But if we played against NC State in Raleigh there are a ton of recruits there....if we played Ga Tech in Atlanta, again - tons of recruits. Va Tech is essentially the entire state of Virginia and we recruit the state and DMV area regularly. I just don't see the benefit of going to Berkeley or Boulder.

When’s the last time a Pac-12 visited UF? My guess would be USC in ‘82, the Wilber game.

We have English and we OWN California.

Value could be a great experience for the players. No value in recruiting. But I think it’s a great opportunity for the student athletes. And for expansion of the brand.

We definitely should be playing these teams on a regular basis......in the playoffs. Regular season schedule should still include the likes of Eastern Washington, South Alabama, New Mex St. and FSU. That's plenty good enough to get us to the playoffs as SEC champions.
