We watched Game of Thrones and I don’t think there is any way I would be able to keep up with the numerous characters in the book. I’ve heard they were good though.

This is the correct and winning answer. I was overtly racist against the Japanese for a while after reading that book. I couldn’t get over the sheer evil perpetrated.

World War Z, the movie was decent but the only thing the two things shared was a title.

The whole series. J park, the lost world, etc. Books were incredible, movies sucked. Lost world was the best book of the series, but the worst of the movies.

The book is pretty much ALWAYS better than the movie. Usually far, far better than the movie.
A better question might be whether you can name a movie that was almost as good as the book, or maybe even better in a different way. The Shining comes to mind.

Thomas Harris’ Red Dragon exceeded the initial film version (Manhunter). His entire Hannibal Lecter series was good reading for me and was better than the ensuing movies, but I still enjoyed them. I guess it’s okay to enjoy watching Anthony Hopkins cooking Ray Liotta’s brain and feeding it to him

Late in this but most Stephen King books are far far better than the movies. Top of that list for me is The Shining (Jack Nicholson rendition.) Iconic moments but a caricature of the book. Ditto Christine, Pet Sematary, and many others.
Good ones would be It, Stand by Me, and of course Shawshank.
