We'd probably be better off as a nation if boys didn't grow a whanger until the age of 25 or so.
I wonder how that would work? Does it just show up the morning you turn 25 or do you get to open it like a present and thank the fam? More importantly, can I pick the size and color, kind of like a turtleneck....I got questions!

If your son steals from you there’s a good chance you failed as a father.
Maybe, but some kids are just destined to be shytheads
Second comment is true but in this case I'm leaning toward the first.

The typical, garden variety "black sheep" shythead swipes beer money out of his Dad's wallet. Maybe if he's a crackhead shythead, he pawns some electronics and stuff from his Dad's storage facility that he thinks won't be missed. But selling your Dad's Super Bowl rings? Come on, now. That's a whole 'nother level. I feel highly confident in saying there was a breakdown in parental supervision at some point, if it ever existed.

How does a boy with a 16 yo Father stand a chance?
Normally the odds are against him, but this boy's 16 year-old father became a multimillionaire when the boy was about 6 years old. Definitely had no lack of resources to ensure that the kid had a stable upbringing.

Resources are fine but a mature Father is lacking.

Yes what I meant was that a mature or responsible father with access to such substantial resources uses them to, at the very least, make sure the boy is well-supported in his upbringing, if the father is not actively participating in raising the boy himself. Point being, I agree with those speculating that part of the blame for Wilfork's son stealing his Super Bowl rings may ultimately lie with Wilfork himself.

Sure, that's a possibility too. But if that's the case I'd still put some of that on his father for not preparing him better for adulthood.

All I'm saying is, if I'm Vince Wilfork and I get that call that my son was caught selling my jewelry, then I go to my closet and find those empty Super Bowl Ring boxes, probably my next stop is the bathroom to take a good long look in the mirror. Probably.

That said, I'm going to take a wild guess and say the mother was probably no peach, either.

Maybe that, maybe a combination of things, like too much time away from teenage sons with access to means with their father away at work (whether the father ever needs to work another day in his life or not), like Tony Dungy and Andy Reid.

Since I've been questioning Vince Wilfork's parenting abilities in this thread and nobody's been sufficiently pushing back on it, I had to argue with myself.

"Self," I said, "what the Fuchs do you know about whether Vince Wilfork was a good father or not?? He seems like a decent enough guy. Hasn't been known as a thug or troublemaker. In fact, didn't he rescue somebody from a burning car one time? Why don't you do some research and see if he had any other kids, and how they turned out?"

So I did. And lo and behold, guess what I found out?

The "son" who stole Vince's jewelry, D'Aundre Holmes-Wilfork, is NOT Vince's biological son.

Repeat, NOT HIS BIOLOGICAL SON.

Vince Wilfork has been married to his longtime girlfriend Bianca Farinas since March 3, 2004. They met online while he was a college student in 2001. The couple welcomed a son named David Dream Angel Wilfork on August 4, 2009, and a daughter Destiny Barbara Wilfork on February 14, 2003. Wilfork also has a stepson, D’Aundre Wilfork (born 1997), from the previous relationship of his wife.

Ahhhh-HA!!! :exactly:

Some dude named Holmes fathered this POS kid, and Wilfork got stuck with him. Takes the kid in and maybe even adopts him (based on the name change), and this is how the little punk repays him. Meanwhile Vince's own kids have never been in any kind of trouble as far as the Internet knows.

So, Vince Wilfork is hereby acquitted of the charge of bad parenting. I stand corrected and so do you, @Gator By Marriage. Whereas @alcoholica is vindicated for his take.

Well, that's a wrap for the day. Time for NBA Playoff action. :bananawave:

You didn’t read far enough. His two biological children are both currently incarcerated.

Vince's parents never saw him play in the NFL and they both died (diabetes & stroke) within 6 months of each other. He was both highly regarded as a player and individual @ UM. His 2 biological children - girl & boy are around 17 & 12. He adopted his wife's son (the thief) after they married. The adopted son has a previous arrest record for drugs. Hope they put him in a drug rehab program and do not permit him to come back home until he is clean and stays clean. I hope Vince gets back all of his things. This has got to be heartbreaking for any parent to experience.
