Can someone clue me in on what kind of avatars are acceptable?

Need to know max. file size, max. height and weight, file types, etc.

Asking for a friend.

Just upload it and see if it works. It should resize automatically.

I tried to upload a gif and got an error about the content not matching the extension. Which wasn't even accurate. I'll rename it as a jpg and see what happens I guess.
