All of the above me thinks, mediocre recruiters (only one of these assistants was being hunted by other programs) , nearly zero support staff, worse than some CUSA facilities, and 9 years of losing embarassingly and proof that this ADO isnt committed to excellence, just being "competitive" (eventually, maybe).

It is so easy to negative recruit against us right now.

Until we do commit to being elite again, I can see why kids and parents go elsewhere to programs that are trying to win championships.

No there isnt. These classes echo on the field three years later. The 2020 class will determine, more or less, our performance in 2023. If we remain mired in 3rdish in SEC East as is likely, Mullins wont survive longer than that. 6 years is the outside window of how long he will get. Right now I expect year three to be disastrous, but he gets year 4.
Makes sense. He inherited a great roster from McIlwain, but it's deteriorating under CDM's recruiting.

The way I see it. Disregarding any conspiracy theory arguments (bag men etc.).

Mullen doesn’t get it. How any upper tier coach could not understand the need for superior talent is beyond me but coaches always tend to think that they are the smartest guy in the room and that if you just stay the(ir) course everything will be fine. So maybe he thinks he can outcoach and outdevelop. Unless something drastic happens I don’t foresee any reason to expect us to get to the upper sphere of recruiting.

Possible if not probable scenarios (and more importantly what can we hope for?).

1) Somehow we win the East and the SECCG. Unlikely as this may be recruits would no doubt take notice and we might be launched into the upper echelon of recruiting without Mullen and his minions breaking a sweat.

2) We win the East but lose the SEC. Worst case scenario or best case? Does Mullen fill empowered or recognize the need to recruit better (hire better recruiters)?

3) We wallow in the malaise of mediocrity. Beat FSU/UM while they’re down but no SEC rings (or divisional T-Shirts).

So the question is what can we hope for? I’m a firm believer that no one changes their M.O. without a sufficient catalyst. What would be Mullen’s?

Butterteeth sucked and his trash low 3 stars meant zero depth, but he did land the occasional 4 star also.

The position holes are switching from OL (deadly) to DL (just as deadly), ILB and (lesser extent) safety.

He gets it. We try to land the top kids, most visit. We just cant.

I think Mullinz is least culpable.

We are talking about an ADO that was bragging publicly about how smart they were a couple of years ago bc they were saving money replacing the two missing position coaches AFTER NSD because buyouts were cheaper then.

Never mind we had several kids decommit or say they couldnt commit without know who their position coaches would be.

Those people are still here. Stricklin was here for that too.

UF still pays 1/2 to 1/3 what other schools do for a position coach.

Several thousand per year less for our cost of living stipend.

We are cheapazz on every single front.

Because we have others that we rate higher at his position? Or we have some more OLB/WDEs visiting us during the summer? Since we have so many already on our roster we are in no hurry?

Going cheap on coaches is dumb; going cheap on player stipends is insane.

Word on Twitter is we are picking up DT Lamar Goods. Kids is a 4*. 6'4 290

Well if Georgia gets all the cream of the crop DL in the state of Florida, then I guess we’ll have to take Kentucky recruits and hope for the best. At least he is a 4⭐️ and weighs close to 300. We need guys like that.

The rumor is.. and I’m serious.... is that he’s gay.

He’s better than Summerall and way better than Joseph. He should be a hard take but here we are twiddling our thumbs and slow playing an elite pass rusher

Meanwhile everybody is trying to flip Joseph. Just saying...look I would like to take both and maybe switch Williams to LB. With his speed of 4.55/40 I bet he could cover a few tight ends and or RBs and slow WRs like Marcus Rosemy and Bryan Robinson :D.

I listened to Alboverdi and Graham Hall the other day on their show on 850am and they were telling everyone to "get a grip" when it comes to the negativity around recruiting right now. Idk why Alboverdi thought it would be funny to say that phrase in particular. It's clear there's a bad pattern with Mullen and his recruiting. It's really frustrating to hear this guy and Jeff Cordozo and Hall always burying their heads in the sand when there's a problem with the football program. The same guys that defend Muschamp and defended Mcelwain til he went down. We need some guys on the radio or some podcasts that calls out the problems when it's clearly happening right in front of our faces.
I rarely listen to them. It was probably the first time I had listened since last fall. I'm probably not going back. There's no intelligent content there. It's just bs for two hours.

Yep, we can’t afford another Steele situation and whoever that guy rooms with could be a transfer liability.

Georgia also backed off of him. Maybe they heard the same rumors?

The other reason is that he tends to disappear in games. He only got 6.5 sacks. He should have been lived in the backfield all season long with those measurables. Is he another cautionary tale, ala Powell and Cowart?
