Deal with the stats Opie. Sounds like you go wacko whenever someone makes a factual observation.
I've been following Gator Baseball since 1980, going to games since I moved to Ocala in 1991 and had season tickets since about 1997. Not to mention that I am a paid subscriber to this board, so, I will say and/or write anything I choose. If you don't like it, you can take a long walk off a short dock.
Write away man. I’m just a fool that comes here to celebrate once in a while.

I’m an avid surfer, so long walks off short piers are sometimes the best way get out past the break on rough days. Thank s for the reminder ;)

I realize I’m talking to an old pro, but don’t take it personal, especially with Bull. We were talking bourbon one day and I switched it up and mentioned blended Scotch. Next thing I know I’m told I’m a homeless hobo with syphilis. I think he means well.

Syphilis is my last worry unless we are all celebrating the CWS title in a hot tub with Sully.

We're gonna win
This……is the vibe we’re looking for.

Another helluva game, but a little different. Jumped out quick and pretty soon went from “Murderers Row” to Skid Row offensively. Mix in the Keystone Cops fielding, Sully losing track of mound visits, and a little shake from the pitching allowing the Orals to outhit us and voila, there’s a game we could easily have lost. But we didn’t. And we‘ve still got a chance to make it to the finals.

A couple of things to consider…We live by the long ball and we’ve also got a couple of holes in the BO that are as likely not to produce. There’s no fix at this point. The guys that have been carrying us have to keep carrying us. The deeper we get into this thing, the better it works out for us or at least it could. My biggest gripe yesterday was the impact the officiating has on the flow of the game. It was a crap fest and represents to me what trying to get everything perfect, knowing there’s no such thing, can potentially do more harm than good. But I digress.

Traditionally, you can follow the stats and get a fair idea of what to suspect is going to happen. Heck, you can rub one out nightly to the Baseball Almanac. But I submit to you that it is post season college baseball with young adults and teenagers sporting Porn-staches and anything is possible. That’s why we watch, that’s we we bytch, that’s why we cheer. We’re 2-0. Enjoy the excitement but don’t forget to take your bp meds. It’s a helluva game and not always conventional.

Good news guys:

Every game is a new ballgame. Winning in Omaha is very hard. Being 2-0 so far is enormous, especially considering we all know (and they know it too) that they can play better.
Exactly. We are in the best case scenario for us and we have people complaining but we knew that was coming. ORU just won 23 of their last 24 before we beat them. That is a very tough thing to do even against sub-par competition. That was a good baseball team. Umpire has an extremely low strike zone all night.

We are 2-0 in Omaha. If you can't be happy about that then you really need to stop watching sports because you aren't enjoying them.

Should I go ahead and tell you guys a big secret that we probably aren't going to win the whole thing (which goes for every single other team in the cws at this point too)?

Instead of watching our next game, how about you go ahead and start drafting your essays for after we get knocked out about how much this year sucked and sully sucked so that you can beat-off to it in the meantime. If we somehow win the championship this year then you can just save your little dissertations for next year.

It seems as everyone in the starting line up has contributed big AB's, at times with the exception of Schiekofer. I understand Robertson has looked awful at the plate the last few weeks of the regular season prompting his benching but not worse than Schiekofer. A starting outfield of Evans, Lankford and Shelnut is a liability defensively that cannot continue in our remaining games. I consider Shelnut/ Evans interchangeable with Evans currently hot while Shelnut is not. Nod to Evans on Wednesday with Robertson back in CF batting ninth. Even a slumping Robertson is a better option than what we have been seeing.

Cags definitely must find his O as does Kurland, Lankford will hit better if back home in LF. Sully appeared uptight and distraught last night and it may have made the team play tighter than normal. Thank our lucky stars we have Riopelle behind the dish as his on field leadership appears to be what is holding the team together right now.

Solid D, timely hitting and a great outing from Cags should propel this team to the championship round. Let's hope the other bracket beats every team into submission before one of them emerges late to face a rested fully loaded UF in the finals. Last night's win was great but not good for this old Gator's mental and emotional health.

Interesting psychological observation… purely anecdotal and just spitballin’ here…

People seem to be more confident that we will win a game when down 2 runs in the 9th than when up 2 runs in the 9th.

Those are the guys that finally got up the nerve to ask the high school girl out that was really out of their league. She told him she’d meet him at the movie theater at 7:00 on Friday night and he showed up at 6:00 with a box of candy, flowers, and his granddad’s skimmer, waited until 9:00 before he finally figured out he’d been had, ate the candy as he walked home to watch the King’s Movie.

I think it comes from the Zook, Muscrat years, etc. when in the 4th quarters with a lead and trying to keep the ball and run the clock we failed miserably and preferred having our defense on the field b/c we saw it was better to have our opponent's offense on the field trailing and trying to score to have any chance of running the clock out, But I :dunno:

Fair enough... I'm still traumatized by the Zook Brock Berlin/Miami game...
