Adrian Peterson is flat-out broke

I have no idea what you’re babbling about. All I was pointing out was that the guy blew a lot more than just his NFL salary. Hell, a lot of pro athletes make more money in endorsements than salary.

I am sure they have an adult literacy program near you, or the 3rd grade.

I agree nothing like posting a factual post
Sit back for a second and perhaps think about the irony of ME, of all people, posting that.

Im trying to give you a chuckle or even chance to spike the ball.

Well since I am an economics professor and thus I know lots of economics professors, perhaps you should put your B.S. meter and tail between your legs and scurry away. I certainly know tons of people who think about the money people actually get not their gross pay.

Well then you and your fellow professors are a idiots. People talk about the gross pay all the time. It is the main way pay or salary is referred to. It is how it is covered in the news and articles. So you and your nerdy econ buddies can EABOD.

Great, you can be wrong and ill informed if you want. That is part of a free country. However people doing something the more accurate way are not idiots, they are the smarter people. On the other hand I know the way the mediots at ESPN reports it is all you can internalize again see the free country part.

BTW, have you ever seen free agency articles that mention Florida or Texas teams having an advantage with free agents. I have. Do you ever wonder why someone might write something like that or why that might be the case. I didn't think so.

To talk about gross pay as your pay is neither wrong nor ill informed. It is accurate. Net pay is not what you earn, it is what is left over after some expenses. Expenses vary. So gross pay is more accurate.

Have I considered why Texas and FL are popular with pro athletes? Yes you fvvcking idiot, I have and understand the issue, maybe better than you. I actually worked in the real work, not just on campus.

You are as obtuse with this as you are with college names or any number of subjects. Actually, the subject matter is irrelevant. You are just obtuse, period.

Wow,

1. Actually unless you calculate someone's gross play plus the so called employer social security "contribution" that you also have to earn you do not have their gross earnings, gross pay is pretty much meaningless.

2. I know you liberals like to pretend that taxes are just some expenses like buying gas to get to work, but you actually get to spend the money you receive after taxes. You don't get to decide about those "expenses" you described.

3. I actually work in the real world too. The real world is the world you are in. That is whether you work in construction, the NFL, a college, the government, etc. Further I actually pay attention to the real world.

4. Could you post anything more trite than accusing someone who is a professor of not being in the real world. Seriously it does not take two brain cells to post something that trite. Oops I forgot you can post something more trite, you posted a BS meter WHEN YOU WERE THE OWN BSing.

Good Lord, is this actually happening?

Insti, aren't you supposed to be on Krugman conference call?

Nothing screams "know it all" more that casually throwing out your qualifications thinking people will accept your superiority.......
I look for results, like bank balances, property portfolios and especially debt burden, to prove expertise.

It also doesn’t help that you have a completely self inflicted expense of children. Most successful people have 1-3 with the same woman, to whom they’re typically married. Having an unknown amount(5-7 is speculation) from different women demanding child support at an appropriate level based on current income, would kill just about anyone. It’s a cultural problem that shows its head again and again. Thinking that you can thumb your nose at convention at make your own rules is what creates situations like this. He had a chance to change his family’s future forever. Instead, he chose to create a bunch of satellite bills he cannot pay for, who instead of growing up in a solid, stable environment, will probably end up in a similar position to where he started...100 million dollars later. Ridiculous.

Shoot, 5-7 only if you’re a lightweight. More like 12-13, if you want to be an All-Star like Travis Henry. :)

Anyone who pisses away $43.65M would have pissed away $100M. The point is, he had s lot and now it’s all gone. Fortunately for him he will get a pension so he will be able to eat and have shelter.

So somewhat of a sidebar here regarding NFL pensions. I remember reading an article referencing O.J. and the supposed big pension he had to live on after the murders that couldn’t be attached by creditors. A lot of people thought that all NFL pensions were this good but apparently the Juice actually used some of his salary and bought some sort of annuity or insurance product offered by the NFL that would pay him in retirement. For those players that didn’t put in extra cash, the article stated that the NFL pension is actually pretty crummy. I wonder if AP is aware of this?

Pensions are protected from creditor attachment. I'm not sure why the Juice would have bought an annuity with his NFL pension. Pensions are just that, an annuity agreement between parties. Unless his was a lump sum that left him with a choice of taking it as a lump sum or converting to annuity payments.

Between this thread and my new found knowledge of carpet squares, I’m not sure this board can be classified as a Gators Sports Board.

Is WikiChatter an available domain name?

But not all annuities are pensions. My point is the DB plan funded by the NFL for the benefit of the players isn’t that substantial. It was being reported that he was going to get something like $25-$50k per month from his NFL pension (the DB plan funded by the employer) when in reality he would get much lower, maybe $5-$10k per month. So for NFL players thinking they will get some enormous monthly benefit based on incorrect information they may have heard, they are in for a rude awakening. The additional amount O.J. gets apparently is from a screen guild pension and supposed an additional pot of money O.J. funded himself years ago (not DB money) that can’t be attached by creditors.

How O.J. still made lots of NFL money in prison

O.J. Simpson Could Take Home $25,000 a Month Now That He's Released From Prison

I’m watching “Deal or No Deal” re-runs and this Asian lady just took the banker’s offer of $105,000. Can you’ll let me know if that’s pre-tax or after tax? Thank you.

Well, AP is still playing, so his NFL pension I assume would be not be eligible till he retires
