Sounds like Roper is saying they will name the backup QB soon and it will be who they think gives us the best chance to win if Driskel was to miss time.

This would better than not naming the backup quarterback...

Exactly - he seemed to brush off the questions about the backup being someone that will be used on certain plays even when Driskel is healthy.

I wonder if maybe the coaches thought Harris might be able to help out at slot. The interesting thing about that is we seemed to be fine as far as numbers go at slot and the coaches and observers all said they performed well for the most part. Maybe this will play a role in them going with Grier instead since we have Pittman, Bailey, Thompson, Worton and Debose looking good at slot. Who knows.

Fin, you misunderstood my comment and actually according to open practice observations he did take several reps in the slot.

Harris weighs 170 lbs and he strapped his Gator helmet on for the first time two weeks ago. We also have about 8 decent receivers. We also know he'll likely have to step up when Driskel gets hurt and can't have him dinged up. There is no way Harris plays receiver also.

I can see reading comprehension is not a strong suit for certain members of this board....

Reading comprehension is not the issue here. Argument/thesis construction more likely. First sentence (should open with a point or thesis)- proposing Harris might have been considered for slot position. Got it. Second sentence - The numbers don't make sense for that to happen.. okk got it. Third sentence - this is where you should close, re-emphasizing your thesis but instead you reiterate the lack of need to use him at slot because we have numbers there... further contradicting your opening postulation. Add on to that the fact you suggest they go with Grier because of "this" and we're back to proposing Harris may be getting looked at closely for slot. You're all over the place with the paragraph bud.
