Bucs cheated out of a win by shoddy NFL rules and refs

So the Bucs were all set up for a win after a 20 yard gain. Unfortunately they had 12 men on the field. Insanely stupid by the bucs I know. However the refs missed it. After the play, Marvin Lewis threw a challenge flag. As you know you can't throw a challenge flag in the final seconds of the game. So the refs tell him that and take the timeout....BUT they decide to go review the play anyways. They throw the flag after the review and cost TB the game. They would have never have reviewed that if not for the challenge flag.

So, an illegal challenge flag is thrown, the refs take the timeout as per rules...but they review it anyways.

Nice NFL

Could have all been avoided by not having 12 men on he field. Simple as that.

Does it really matter at this point? In fact, Bucs fans should be praying for losses to get a better draft pick. The refs did you a favor. I have a friend who's a Giants fan that was actually pleased they lost to the Jags today for that very reason.

That's not the point. The point is that a precedent has been set: If you are willing to lose a timeout, you can toss an illegal challenge flag to stop the game and get a booth review.

You should be able to challenge that play. The refs and the booth were too slow. Marv was aware of the rules. The Bucs are a mirror of the gators.

Lovie Smith is a joke and stole $20 mill from the Glazers. He's from the Will Muschamp school of football. Circa 1930's. Freaking dinosaurs

But you AREN'T allowed to challenge plays within 2 minutes. That's the issue I have with this. The refs and the booth only caught it because of an illegal challenge flag

The penalty is loss of a timeout. Marv is on the rules committee, is he not? The Lions coach got screwed by the rule so they changed it. I'm okay with it.

You should be mad at Lovie Smith for being 2-10 and a joke. 12 men? That's pathetic. It's Muschamp pathetic.

That is the rule, and the coaches should have just called a timeout. Remember when the Lions lost an appeal because turnovers were automatically reviewable and their coach threw theh challenge flag. That's on the Bucs staff all the way around. Marvin Lewis is one of the heads of the rules committee, it's on him.

If you're a Bucs fans you have bigger fish to fry than worrying about a meaningless game given you're already out of the playoffs. What the hell are you going to do if the Bucs draft the Jameis Winston? Are you going to be a loyal Bucs fan and cheer on the Anus as he stands in the pocket scanning the field to complete a pass?
