College sports commission launches first public NIL probe into LSU

If they are intent on being serious, they wiill go after a big fish to make an example of.

From Google:

The College Sports Commission (CSC) was established in June 2025 by
the NCAA and the five "Power 4" conferences—ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, and SEC—in response to the $2.8 billion House v. NCAA settlement. The commission was created to act as an enforcement body for new revenue-sharing rules and name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals.
  • Key Organizers: The commissioners of the Power 4 conferences (ACC's Jim Phillips, Big Ten's Tony Petitti, Big 12's Brett Yormark, and SEC's Greg Sankey) were central to forming this entity.
  • Purpose: To oversee the $20.5 million revenue-sharing cap, regulate third-party NIL deals, and investigate rule violations.
  • Leadership: Former MLB executive Bryan Seeley was appointed as the first CEO to lead the CSC.
  • Background: The commission was established immediately following U.S. Judge Claudia Wilken's approval of the House v. NCAA settlement to manage the new era of direct player payments.
The commission is designed to bring, in theory, transparency to the rapidly changing landscape of college athlete compensation.

The
College Sports Commission (CSC) imposes strict penalties for violations of House settlement terms and NIL rules, including ineligibility for student-athletes, and for schools, potential fines, postseason bans, and recruiting restrictions. The commission has, as of Jan 2026, already rejected over 500 deals involving $14.9 million for violations such as lack of business purpose or "warehousing".
Penalties for violations and failure to cooperate can be severe:
  • For Schools & Personnel: Suspensions, massive fines, withholding of revenue-sharing distributions, and severe restrictions on roster sizes and recruiting.
  • For Student-Athletes: Loss of eligibility.
  • NIL Violations: The CSC is actively scrutinizing third-party NIL deals (specifically those

$600) and rejecting those that do not meet compliance standards, such as lacking a valid business purpose.
  • Failure to Cooperate: The CSC can draw adverse inferences if a school's collective (e.g., a NIL collective) refuses to cooperate, potentially penalizing the university for the actions of independent entities.
Key Enforcement Trends & Focus Areas
  • "Warehousing" and Compliance: The CSC is aggressively targeting "warehousing" (storing money for future use) and deals without a "valid business purpose".
  • Reporting Requirements: Schools must report third-party NIL deals of $600 or more to the CSC.
  • Retroactive Action: While 48% of violations are typically self-reported, the new enforcement regime has already led to hundreds of rejected deals, signaling a shift toward more proactive, and potentially, punitive oversight.
  • Legal Challenges: The new, stricter enforcement, particularly under the House settlement, faces potential legal challenges regarding "overreach" and due process, with some, such as in Texas, even citing state-law conflicts, potentially leading to uneven application

Might’ve been at an outdoor gathering and got teased about the fruit and umbrella in his drink. Kicked the fire basket while ripping his shirt off to fight the offender :dunno:

This was not a thing when I was growing up. It was more likely that the football coach was banging a cheerleader.
Wasn't a thing back in my day cruising the playground.

ironically, that journalism teacher was pretty decent and very flirty with me. We arranged to meet one night at a football game and “go somewhere”. But she was technically engaged, and her fiancé decided last minute he wanted to come along with her. Pre cell phone days, so it was awkward for a moment when I walked up. Nothing ever happened with me, but I’m sure she hooked up with someone.

We had this girl with really nice feet when I was in HS. I’m not a foot person per se, but these were really sexy for some reason. I took a journalism class just to sit next to her.
I'm gonna try it out with my girl. She has pretty feet. I'm gonna be rolling in the dough.

I wrote poetry about this kid. I wish I'd known "The Lizard," I would have written poetry about her too.

We had a girl that wore all black and was very goth. We called her Lizard. I’ve always wondered why.

There was a kid in our high school who we used to call "The Fetus" because he had an extraordinarily large and misshapen cranium and a tiny body. I wanted you all to know that.
