It doesn't even make sense form a money standpoint.
"Nussmeier is in the second year of a three-year, $1.545 million deal with a planned $15,000 increase for year two. He goes up to $540,000 in year three and can receive a $300,000 retention bonus ahead of the 2017 season."
If we had fired him after 2016, assuming we owe him his full 2017 salary, that costs us $540k. If we retain him for 2017 we lose $300k right off the bat.
Seems to me it makes more sense that maybe they didn't have any good OC prospects that were interested?
I've been trying to pry this outta folks (with no success) since it happened. So who knows...smh!
