Just read article. It says she withdrew the complaint. That doesn't mean she recanted. Actually it leaves more of a cloud of uncertainly about what happened. Might have been better for clearing him if other info had been made public.

Still pragmatically at least his career and education will not suffer more.

Depends on the University's stance IMO. Also, mosquitoes really like smokers and they can also pick up on when someone is aroused. Don't smoke, kill the wood, and you should be good.
