Key dates before the start of the 2016 football season

Believe it or not, we’re already less than four months away from football games.

As we head into summer, here are key dates to keep in mind as we inch closer to football season.

(Note: Only the SEC has announced its conference media days dates so far. This page will update, so bookmark it.)

May 6-9: NFL rookie minicamps

May 19-22: NFL rookie minicamps

May 31: FBS recruiting evaluation period ends

Late May - Early June: NFL OTA workouts

June 1 - June 26: FBS recruiting quiet period

June 7-9: NFL mandatory minicamps

June 14-16: NFL mandatory minicamps

June 23-26: Manning Passing Academy (Thibodeaux, La.)

June 27 - July 10: FBS recruiting dead period

July 11: FBS recruiting quiet period begins

July 11-14: SEC Media Days (Birmingham, AL)

July: Conference media days (TBA)

Mid July: NFL training camps open

Late July: College football fall camps begin

Aug. 7: NFL / Hall of Fame Game (Canton, Ohio)

Aug. 11 - Sept. 2: NFL preseason games

Aug. 27: Hawaii vs. Cal (Sydney, Australia)

Sept. 1: FBS recruiting evaluation period begins (42 days from Sept.-Nov.)

Sept. 8: NFL regular season begins (Panthers at Broncos)
