Thought it would be fun to "lighten it up" a bit during the recruiting hysteria....some of these I did not hear...I chuckled at the Jan. 1 comment on Callaway's passing skills and I love the shot at FSU on Nov 23 about Dalvin Cook....enjoy....

Over his first season as the Gators’ head coach, McElwain gave us many memorable lines. Here are some of his best quotes from the 2015 season …
Jan. 1: Gators starting kicker Austin Hardin was held out of the Citrus Bowl after suffering an ankle injury during the team’s walk through practice. Even McElwain couldn’t believe it …
McElwain: “We had our normal kicker, Austin Hardin, actually sprained his ankle in walk through on Friday. Yeah, you heard that right. We pulled the dentist off of IR, he’s got a, you saw the brace on his knee. He’s actually got an ACL deal. Give him credit for coming in there and doing it.”
Jan. 1: Wide receiver Antonio Callaway’s underhand touchdown pass in the Citrus Bowl was impressive. There’s a reason it was underhanded, though.
McElwain: “You gotta see him throw overhanded.”
Dec. 31: McElwain was very impressed by Florida’s team hotel for the Citrus Bowl …
McElwain: “This place we’re staying, this Rosen Shingle Creek place, whoa. I’m telling you what now. I didn’t know if I was supposed to take my shoes off when I walked in the lobby or not, but my mom would have told me to anyway. This has just been a great deal.”
Dec. 31: When asked how he was able to get Gators players to buy in to what he was selling, McElwain made one thing clear …
McElwain: “I ain’t selling anything. That’s a good thing. I did sell, though. I take that back. I worked at JCPenney and I worked for Universal Athletics where I sold shoes, tennis shoes. It might have been the best thing I ever did.”
Dec. 5: Florida’s kicking struggles continued in the SEC championship …
McElwain: “We’ll get working on this kicking thing, and somebody will get it up over the line far enough that maybe somebody doesn’t block it with their armpit.”
Nov. 30: McElwain had one goal when putting together an offensive game plan for Florida’s matchup against Alabama in the conference championship …
McElwain: “We’ll put something together to hopefully at least make them think. My biggest thing is I just hope they come away scratching their heads and say, ‘that was cute.’”
Nov. 23: On Florida State star running back Dalvin Cook …
McElwain: “That guy is special now. He’s a real guy. Somebody told me he was committed here or something. Wonder how he ended up there.”
Nov. 21: McElwain was not pleased with Florida’s energy level against FAU …
McElwain: “When you guys go to like a sea food market or if you go to the grocery store, you see all those dead fish on ice? That’s the energy they’re playing with right now. Now think about that visual. How excited are you to hang out with that dead fish?”
Nov. 18: When told cornerback Jalen Tabor said he has “swagger,” McElwain was concerned.
McElwain: “I hope it’s a good thing. It’s not a disease, is it?”
Nov. 18: Life lessons from the Gators coach …
McElwain: “Be the best you can be, it doesn’t matter what you’re doing. If you’re making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich get it to the edges, how hard is that. Why cut the corners? Those are all lessons, again, that I think all of us can learn from.”
Nov. 16: More life lessons from the Gators coach …
McElwain: “Sometimes you’ve got to put yourself out there and you’re going to fail. The problem a lot of times is people won’t put everything they have into it because when they fail, they don’t have an excuse. Think about what I just said right there. When people hold back, and then they fail, oh well, I could have done better. There’s the built-in excuse. And yet every day we must go out and try. Sometimes you fail, but you learn from that.”
Nov. 7: The Gators stole a win in a 9-7 victory over Vanderbilt and McElwain knew it. Side note: Calvin Long is the Florida state trooper who escorts him to and from the field on game days.
McElwain: “Well, you steal one. And let’s face it, we stole it. I mean, it’s not like …. probably Calvin, the guy out here, he’s probably going to arrest me for stealing. And I don’t blame him. It’s not like I’m excited about the performance.”
Nov. 2: On Treon Harris’ completion percentage …
McElwain: “Well, it’s not good. Shaquille O’Neal might have liked it for his free-throw percentage.”
Oct. 17: If you didn’t remember that LSU is pretty good, McElwain is here to remind you …
McElwain: “You know they recruit really good football players by the way, in case anyone realized it. It wasn’t like we were playing Joe’s Smoke Shop or anything, you know what I’m getting at. They got real players, and so do we.”
Oct. 7: Nutrition lessons from the Gators coach …
McElwain: “I’m a total believer in this and the nutrition gals get on me about this: I’m a firm believer in the longer the shelf life, the better it’s going to taste. I don’t think Uncrustables have shelf life, so that makes a heck of a sandwich. Twinkies, Ding-Dongs, that’s sustainable foods. I like that.”
Oct. 5: McElwain didn’t mind all of the attention and love the Gators got after starting the season with a 5-0 record.
McElwain: “Look there’s nothing wrong with getting your belly rubbed, it feels good. Man, I like it.”
Sept. 23: McElwain on the title of special teams coordinator, which he held at Montana State, Louisville and Michigan State.
McElwain: “I think it’s one that everybody when you ask who wants to be the special teams coordinator, it’s becomes crickets. Nobody really wants to be one. It’s like, ‘Really?’ They’re eager to point out some help but they don’t want that moniker. Everybody sees, when you get one returned against you, it’s on you. I get it. That was me, I took the abuse.”
Sept. 5: What does a Jim McElwain QB look like?
McElwain: “You tell me what they look like. I don’t know. I just want them to throw it to the right guy and not throw it to the other team and affect the people around them in a positive way. I don’t have any secrets. I don’t know what they look like. Hopefully they look pretty decent. That’s the goal.”
