UPDATE:

My initial surgery was cancelled as I had a viral infection. I have been rescheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 30th At the Univ. of Miami Hospital by Dr. Joseph Lamales. cardiothoracic surgeon for the minimally invasive surgery to replace the mitral value with a pig valve. I will be going down to Miami the 29th for preop, then admitted to the hospital the next morning with surgery in the early afternoon. I have been on antibiotics, steroids, etc. etc. to get over the infection.

So, on the external wound you'll rub oinkment? Keep smiling, it helps. 5 years ago, I had the split sternum style and it was a breeze. Ignorable discomfort, and my scar healed so it was hardly noticeable in 4 weeks.
