Does anyone else know the exact moment the game swung in the first half? Simple answer: When USCe went to a zone defense, we completely went flat. Why? B/C as I have said numerous times this season, Mike has zero concepts when it comes to attacking a zone defense. It is a shame too b/c this is a good team and whether watching live or on TV, I shake my head in amazement in Mike's inability to understand zone offense. Yes, USCe is a good defensive team. But a darn good D-1 team like UF should have a better method and understanding of how to play against a basic zone defense. My guess is USCe will continue to play zone D in the 2nd half and Mike's answer will be to try and shoot over the top of it. It may work, but that is not a zone offensive attack per se.
Wanted to put this in my game recap but it's best here. I agree with what you said and have said it numerous times myself. It is his biggest negative in the Xs and Os.
That being said. Tonight was amazing from White. Not the first half...that was bad lol. The 2nd half though, what great coaching by White once we got the lead and USC went back to the zones. He had our players driving and dishing, while making crisp passes and sharing the ball. It was perfectly ran. I also like how he went to the 5 out approach opening up passing, driving, and shooting lanes. It was a great adjustment and I absolutely loved it. I have been down on him in the past about his adjustments and offensive game plan, but White came up just as big as the players did in that 2nd Half.
Hopefully we see more coaching like this...keep putting us in the best position to win. White was great in the 2nd half...when we needed it
