Ok since were talking exceptions rather than rules what about Meyer in 2010? Great coach but when the 2009 talent left he went 8-5 and got clobbered by every decent team we played....kinda like now, huh?
Except he had some of the highest ranked classes for 5-6 years running. Our Rivals class rankings from 06-10 were 2,1,3,11 & 2, respectively, so your argument doesn't hold water, There was a ton of talent in 2010, at least on paper based on preceding class rankings, which is what some people on this board focus almost exclusively on, yet Meyer had a sub par season. I think this illustrates the point that some people, including Deuce, have made in this and other threads...it's nice to land a boat load of 4-5 star players and have top 3 ranked classes, but there is more to a successful program than the star rankings and newspaper clippings the day after NSD. Guys get hurt, leave the program, don't live up to their billing, classes aren't balanced, etc.
