Once upon a time, I was married, yeah I know unimaginable, right? Anyway, I was stationed in San Diego, Ca for 3 years as an instructor and my teenage step daughter discovered weed at school and apparently couldn't just smoke a bit on friday night hanging out with friends, she had to start skipping school and smoking it on the streets with her "friends". Long story short, we wound up having to meet with a local judge for a while to talk about her future. That day the judge told me something I've never forgotten. She said "listen to her voice when she speaks". "You hear that little bit of waver in her voice?" "You hear what I'm talking about?" "That's the voice of someone who's on weed". "I can tell every time" she said. Well, Mac's got that voice. Listen to him in a press conference sometime closely. You'll hear it. I'm thinking he discovered weed when he was coaching in Co. and now he likes it so much he can't leave it alone. It's just a theory I have based on what I've seen so far. Might be why he has trouble motivating the kids. Maybe he ain't much motivated himself? I dunno...:dunno:

Sounds to me like a guy that still has the juices flowing, but isn't being given an outlet. Publicly saying "I don't know who I'm consulting" and "We don't know what the other is talking about half the time" is a concern to me.

SOS is never one to mince words or censor himself - so it sounds like he is being put into a "Queen of England" role than he neither wants or expected. I don't want him as HBC or even as a position coach, but FFS...he's thinking about someone else might want a QB coach? We can't figure out a better way to leverage him AT ALL?

I'm certain that offensive philosophies and terminology differ...but can it be THAT different, or is this staff's perception of his role is to be seen and not heard. NFW Spurrier accepts that.

Anyone who watched the opener and Spurrier's comments at midfield knows that he's thrilled to be home and a part of UF again. I almost feel like these comments are less about his wanting to do any coaching, and more about his having legitimate concern with what's going on and the direction we're headed. The one thing we know about Steve, he'll tell it like it is. To me, this is his way of taking a shot at a staff that he feels is greatly under performing.

Not sure if this ends well or not. But I like having him around. And the stakes are going up for Mac and Co.

When I first heard about him getting the position I felt that this whole "consultant/ambassador" thing wasn't gonna' last long. It's just not in Spurrier's make up. I'm not sure what he's going to do, but being a glad-handing casino greeter isn't his style at all.

"So I said, Stan...err Jim, it's enough with the Montana stories already. Anyway, I'll take it from here."

When he was at SC he was too busy coaching and trying to be competitive to dwell on our mediocrity; I'm sure he didn't like it, but he was coaching against us. Now he is back as part of the program--back with his beloved Gators--and has to sit powerless as he watches this aberration we call an offense. I think we can all relate, somewhat, but it has to be terribly frustrating for him.

Take the article at face value since it was written by a hack from the Palmetto State that likely thinks Duncechump is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Mac doesnt create great QBs, never has. He is perfect QB is a game manager who can make the right reads, protect the ball and hand off alot. His history is clear. He tries to produce Greg McElroy.

While I tend to agree with what you're saying(I think), it's no time to go all Sheriff of Rottingham on us.
Mehhh, its not really a negative thing. McElroy won a lot of games. Its just that people hoping for some gunslinging arent being realistic.

And Id be in a great mood if I even had a coffee w coach.

Law, we don't need to be slinging the ball around to achieve our goals. We don't even want to be throwing it that much. The turnover odds are against you. What we need is the kind of offense McElroy ran at Alabama, purposeful, efficient and mistake free.

I'm more concerned with the spotty o-line play and the second-half play calling of Nussmeier than what our quarterbacks can or cannot do. I think they can do enough to make us win a lot of games.

Just you wait MizzuGator, in a few more weeks Steve will be in the film room doing shadow-puppets running
foolproof pass patterns on game films.

This slow plodding offense is garbage. Even Saban left it behind. You have to be able to win shootouts too.

I think my mind must be regressing. You're totally right.
It has been a long week, especially for anyone within two hours of the coast.

You know me well enough though. Id prefer a gunslinging high scoring offense, no doubt, but id take anything though. We were never going to get a gunslinging offense out of Butters amd Nusschamp.
