Just like with Facebook and Twitter you can tag somebody. This will allow you to send somebody a notification to view your post/thread. This is not the same as a reply which only sends a notification to the person who you're replying to.
To tag somebody use @ and then type their username. Their username will auto populate underneath for you to select.
