" YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Three Eastern Michigan University football players have been charged with assaulting the cousin of a man who pleaded guilty to killing teammate Demarius Reed. The Ann Arbor News says court records show that Darius Scott, Quincy Jones and Jairockeis Jones are charged with aggravated assault. The charges involve Friday's attack on 24-year-old Demarko Taylor.
The players have a pretrial hearing Monday. Eastern Michigan assistant athletic director Greg Steiner says they remain on the team during disciplinary proceedings.
Taylor was a prosecution witness at a probable cause hearing for Kristopher Pratt and Ed Thomas in the Oct. 18, 2013, robbery-slaying of Reed at an off-campus apartment in Ypsilanti. Reed was a 20-year-old Chicago native.
Taylor is Pratt's cousin. Pratt pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
A jury acquitted Thomas."
