This is an obvious tragedy, I certainly don't mean to make light. However, the headline in the ESPN Twitter link is "Dwayne Haskins dies in car accident". That is misleading to say the least. I don't know if that was the sports media softening what looks like obvious stupidity or what, but it sure looks like it. When you read the details it leads you to believe he may have had a role in his early death. A huge role.

So every car crash that involves a death starts as a homicide investigation?
No...they don't. If the truck didn't stop then yes.

"He was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of Interstate 595 when there was oncoming traffic," Miranda said in an emailed statement.

So that alone should be enough to dismiss the whole homicide part of the investigation, unless of course they choose to charge the driver for failing to yield to a pedestrian.

I don't think that applies on interstates. Not many pedestrian crossings there.

Gil Brant getting skewered for his off-hand remarks about Haskins....

The woke media is always looking for someone to attack, always...

His murderer(s) knew that if they called him and pissed him off he'd stop right at that time and get out of his car so that the dump truck that they rented just for this can be driving by just at that time to make it look like an accident.
Or
He missed his exit and because he's stoned he got out of the car to see where he was.
Who said anything about a murder?

I don’t care how slow you were in the pocket. The last thing you want on your tomb stone is murdered by a dump truck.

In the split second before, I bet it was a similar feeling as:

It was a rhetorical question.

Homicide and murder are not the same thing

I think I know where you’re going with us. And believe me, I’m with you. I’ve often wondered if my friend had not made it back a across the intercoastal that night, would those of us egging him on have had some culpability? I just don’t know.
