I was open to Muschamp but openly called out his opening presser, questioned his radical plan and officially said he was toast after Jax 2011.
I was patient with Mac to an extent because we beat uga twice, and at least made Atlanta. I bailed on him the night of the fsu game in 2016.
I was not happy with Mullen but did feel he’d do some good, which he did. I also said on this very board the night of the Lsu game in 2020 that he was done.
So you actually have seen enough from me to know I can spot problems well in advance when it comes to coaches. I think Napier has done a lot of good. He also has made some questionable moves, and has been asked about something controversial in 5 of 7 games. I don’t need to see that stat go to 15 of 21 to ask questions. If he wants to correct it, I think he actually has the ability to do so. Whether he does or not is a matter of how much he really wants to win(hates to lose) or if he’s just satisfied with cashing big checks. We’ll see.
I feel Muschamp actually cared, wanted to succeed, but just wasn't cut out to be a functional HC. At the time he was on everyone's list and was supposed to be what Bowlcut has become. He just couldn't help himself and for every great thing he did on D he made just as an awful decision with the O.
Butters was never going to work, despite the early success. He just wasn't a good fit at all and I am still shocked he was our only choice.
Mullen was also an awful hire. The book was out on him already and we did it anyway. Paying for it now.
My problem with Billy is that many of the people who for years said we couldn't hire a coordinator because this isn't a learn on the job position are now perfectly fine with him essentially learning basic fundamentals, like clock managment on the job. My hope for this hire was a stock the cupboard type of coach and hopefully he can do that at least since he was our only call.
