I don't care if theres buzz in highschool locker rooms or if the "culture" is nice. I care that we don't embarrass ourselves on Saturdays. He's batting a fat O-fer in that area. Either strap up and win or GTFO.

Having met him at a separate function earlier this year, I can tell you we don’t/didn’t want this guy anywhere near a visible position. I get that coaches aren’t going to be overly concerned with how they look. But I also think there is a measure of pride one should take in terms of how you present yourself. This guy makes Belichick and Oddell Hagins look like Real Housewives.
How does he compare to the Charlotte head coach?

Sorry for the spelling errors, I have fat fingers. - Who cares

My points are that some of you have no clue what its like to play the game, much less play at a high level - While everyone appreciates your perspective as a former UF player, that is not a prerequisite for understanding the game. Sitting around bitching about not being undefeated is not the way to be a fan. - This is EXACTLY how fans behave - EVERYWHERE for EVERY team! What kind of fan doesn't care about their team's success? BN has always said this will be a process, we all know that, some might not expect it but it is what it is. The cupboard was past empty when he got here, no he doesn't have to have 'his' players but he needs to have some players capable of performing at this level. Mullen recruited kids that would have never played in Div1, much less in the SEC. -No argument, but there teams that had worst players making faster turnarounds and generating positive attention rather than widespread mockery. This isn't his first season - it is his second.

Anyway, what some of you are failing to realize is that the measurement of a great coach is not just W' and L's. It is, in fact, the primary measure of a great coach - especially one receiving generational wealth. Unless he starts diddling kids, gets caught really cheating or some other gross indiscretion off the field - this will be the measuring stick that either allows him to continue or gets him fired

BN has this team on the right path, maybe not an immediate upward path but they are going the right direction. Our recruiting has earned back years of mistrust amongst high school coaches and students. We knew this year would be tough and probably worse than last year but he has the kids coming in to make a difference in 2024. As long as he continues to make improvements, he will be around a few more years. Look at the young players that are getting quality time on the field. How do you think they will play next year? Everyone on here has acknowledged this and appreciates it - it is one of the primary reasons most criticism starts with "he is doing a great job in the CEO/off-field areas of program building" type qualifiers.

There have been no huge distractions with this team, no one beating their girlfriends or shooting anyone. A coaches job is to raise successful young men and graduate those young men and BN is doing a great job of that. The kids love him and as importantly, their parents love him too. Spend sometime around HS football and there is a buzz about FL that has not been there since UM left. See paragraph above - it is a great quality of his program, processes and recruit evaluations.

BN has not caused any embarrassment to the University, our players or the Alumni. He is polite and while we might not understand his methods, his message is clear, he makes no excuses and stands up like a man to the press. - Other than saying that folks just don't understand half of his mistakes in game management/play calling, he doesn't make excuses. On the other hand, his losses ARE an embarrassment because they are inexcusable laced with poor offensive schemes, play calling, execution and lack of attention to detail.

He can improve his play calling, I agree. He needs a OC and I think he will learn that but who is he going to hire? He needs a special team coach with some passion and great attention to detail. Most of, all this team (and I have said this many times on here) needs some leadership from players and someone that gets in other players faces and makes them take that one extra rep and fight for that one extra yard. I don't see that player on the squad right now. - No argument. These are exactly the complaints that have led you to call us bad fans.

This insanity needs to end. How do we put so much money for an unproven sunbelt coach? The guy literally was kicked out of Clemson, was a shoe shiner for Satan, and had some success in the sunbelt. That is it. Suddenly he deserves $52m and the 11th highest pay in FBS? What in the actual f.

How can these unproven coaches have any incentive to keep working or doing anything useful once they sign the contract? What drives them?

Absolute insanity.
I think our AD didn't have the nuts or business acumen to base compensation on success. It's not his money and he spends it as such. I recommend the slow death.

It's the system(offense), inept and uninspiring. I don't believe for a minute serious players are, as of now, interested in what he's showing on the field. Worse, I don't believe he has an answer, or "knows" better. Honestly, most of us can design a more effective pass game. When they watch film, if they do, do they see the problems? He can be a polite ambassador and that's definitely a good thing. But the record says what you are. He needs help, badly, or it's going to fall apart. And really, the state of the program- wins/losses- is on him. IMO, any good>great coach knows STs is at least one win a season. He's neglected that. A good offense is worth 5 games a season. A good defense, another 5. Nobody is being unreasonably critical of Napier. This is what he did, and I would bet, behind the scenes, he wishes he could start over and do it right.

Hiring a new coach amounts to a leap of faith. It's an even larger leap of faith when he has zero head coaching experience in Div. 1. Now add this: He's had limited success at his own specialty, calling plays.

We're only now beginning to peal back the onion. So far, it's making us all cry.

Terence Hilton Barber, UF wide receiver 1988-1990, welcome to GC, bro.

That’s what I was thinking and afraid of. I was a big fan of his and now the guys dropping microphones and we’re arguing back and forth. Next thing you know I’ll be punching Mickey Mantle in the mouth.

Whatever you do, don't aim for his liver. It's brittle.

Most of his points amount to "I'm a higher level fan than you so shut up." Not much of a mic drop imo

I used to say this same thing about sports writers but then I realized that they truly don’t care about impressions or anything else

Shane Matthews is tearing up Billy’s play calling.

He said he was excited about this team because of the deep passing concepts that they did during summer practice. He said other than the deep Crossing route, they run virtual none of them during the game. He said they haven’t run 4 wideouts all year.

It’s a slow paced offense and doesn’t attack down the field at all. He said it makes no sense because that’s not what they did during their summer practice sessions. He said the game day play calling is super conservative.

Just as I alluded to earlier, he said there will not be a new OC this year, unless he turns over play calling duties to Callaway.

TV games suck for the limited angles. I was really interested in knowing what our receivers were doing against Kentucky. The handful of times ESPN afforded a north-south view, I was surprised at how few people we had running actual routes during passing plays. There were large empty spaces of activity in the secondary.

It's no wonder Mertz had to scramble like he did. He really was left with limited options.

While I agree with positive recruiting, and better character kids with less off field issues, Karl has glaring issues. He’s to laid back and has zero fire, which bleeds into the overall personality of our team. His O sux and will not win any kind of championship. No ST game day coach is a joke. We keep making the same stupid mistakes a year and a half in his tenure. He can’t get the team hyped for road games. If we were seeing incremental progress that would be one thing, but we are not. He just looks completely overmatched for an SEC job on game day.

Terrible move by our so called “detailed-oriented” CEO

Assign an existing assistant to the additional duties of the gameday ST coordinator.

TODAY

Keep the analyst too. He's one of the cast of thousands. I like the idea of someone concentrating on other teams ST strengths and weaknesses.

Every team in the SEC has a special teams coach that's also an on-field coach. Except us.

What do the analytics say about our special teams unit? Bottom 5% in the country.

What does the eyeball test say? Too many men, not enough men, offsides, missed FGs, fielding punts inside the 10, not fielding punts outside the 10 etc, etc.

@tharber is Terence Barber? One of the few bright spots on offense (other than ES) during the probation years.

I liked Galen Hall and Gary Darnell. I liked Spurrier >>>> better.

Barber and Mills were integral to Spurrier's passing attack his first year. Those were trying years under the weight of NCAA scrutiny that measured even the slightest hiccup. Those players knew adversity.

Ernie Mills was my favorite offensive player of that stretch. Always a giant smile. Guys like him, Bartley and Barber were the ones I was the most happy for that they got to experience 1990.

After yesterday though, I’m swapping TB out for Tim Paulk.
