"Cav Scouts - they're basically Infantry"...
They are infantry with a ride.

I can say that bc I was both. And it's true. There was almost zero difference between my time with a blue cord or black stetson and spurs.

I don't see any difference between that and the CIB. I know plenty of scouts that legitimately earned it and plenty of grunts who made coffee on a FOB in a designated zone and got a CIB. Both of them lack much meaning bc too many were awarded for political reasons, not combat experience.

The sCAB is a participation trophy. When soldiers complain that they want an award to look like the infantry and medics, they give them this. They made an expert badge for the same reason.

Lol you're full of sht and it's glaringly obvious that you havent served in decades. I have buddies that were ambushed, attacked from all sides and fought off hajis outnumbering them 8-1 for hours before CAS was able to come in to aid them. A buddy of mine was shot 4 times while dragging wounded from a Humvee that was on fire from a grenade to another one 50 yds away, then got up and killed about 5 of them on his own. He got a silver star, a purple heart, a participation trophy and a special accommodation from his congressional representative when he got home for it bc he was just a pvssy 19D. If only he could have been a leg like you and earned a CIB.

STFU.

Wow! He got a special accommodation from his congressional representative when he got home for it bc he was just a pvssy 19D. He must be proud.

Also, I love the part about "I have buddies that"...

Sorry, I missed the LEG part. Be a leg and earn a CIB????? Do you know what a leg is?

Yea i do, but it doesn't seem like you do. So IF, and at this point I'd say its a BIG if, you were an 11 series, did you hump or take a bird? If you flew and jumped, that means you hitched a ride, which also means you're no different than a 19 series. Maybe we can get you cab for your troubles.

Ive spent a long time in uniform, and more time in infantry units than any other. Ive never once encountered a fellow 11 that disparaged someone's service b/c they were a different series or had a cab instead of a cib. I guess that stuff is for all those old timers who served from the comfort of their garrison post during peace time. Bet those friday afternoon kegger TRAINEX's were off the chain.

Never? That tells me you were never on jump status. You were Infantry and never heard people make fun of the Mikes, Hotels or Charlies?
And again, you were a reservist so you're a step up from the AF and the Kiss Army.

I've never understood why 11 Series needed B, M, H, C.... 19D's did all of those (yes, we rounded out mortar crews ALL the fukking time), plus 13F, 12B...

Funny thing is, I'd bet I called for more live fire, fired more small arms (of all types), 40mm (203 and Mk19), Dragons, AT4s, TOW IIB's, 25mm, 4 deuce mortar, and blown more demo than you ever dreamed of as an 11whatever series. Hell, we even got to go to Air Assault school and ride motorcycles when we were the scout platoons in the 101st in 1985.

If you Army idiots knew how to call for fire theyd never even need AIR FORCE "SPECIAL OPERATIONS"!

Bro, do you even operate?

You and I were probably at the 101st at the same time.

But, c'mon with all the Hooah talk. You claim to have done more than those in Group or a Ranger Batt. Which range were you on when you were calling live fire?

But, if it makes you feel better, keep telling these stories about live fires.

FTR, I was a 74 mike, a combat cook.

Homer, in all seriousness, in the days of Armored Cavalry Regiments, you do understand that a Troop had ALL those things, right? We had 2 x M106's in our Troop and a battery of 6 x M109's in our Squadron and we got to call for live fire for them at Graf in Germany (where I ONCE got to call for 155mm for being a 1000 pt gunner, we got to call for our 4.2" mortars tons of times, especially illum on ranges). When our 11Cs were short handed, there were a dozen of us cross trained to round out the two crews.

Given "1985," you'll remember SQT manuals... there was no SQT manual even close in size to that huge assed 19D SQT manual. It's why I picked the job over "Pershing Missile Repairman" (or whatever da fuk SSG Ady wanted me to pick)... 19D video was hands down the most fun "shoot 'n blow schit up" video they had at the 'crootin station!

This is SO typical of us Army types! We're in a "Beat Navy" thread while those homos watch us kick the schit out of each other

Officers are not given an MOS, just a branch identifier because they're supposed to be able to do all of the jobs.

Everyone in the Infantry is taught to call for fire. That's kinda important to know. Not everyone does it but it's good to know. Just like reading a map.

Heck, I used to work out on Cav Country at Campbell because that was the biggest gym on post. We also had LRRP and Pathfinders out there.
