- He must be a senior, because you need time and maturity to develop into a good professional quarterback.
- He must be a graduate, because you want someone who takes his responsibilities seriously.
- He must be a three-year starter, because you need to make sure his success wasn’t ephemeral and that he has lived as “the guy” for some period of time.
- He must have at least 23 wins, because the big passing numbers must come in the context of winning games.
Bill Parcells is a couple years away from having his breakfast through a straw while waiting for his caregiver to change his diaper. The game has changed and QB's who can actually play are worth more than their weight in gold. Fuking Sam Bradford just signed to make over 20 million a year and someone calculated that up to this point in his career, he has made over 1 million per TD pass he has thrown. So he really will only have about 18 games of eligibility left after he transfers, whom ever he is allowing make his career decisions has done him a disservice. He would fail the 26-27-60 rule, which some teams follow in drafting a qb (at least take it under serious consideration).
Bill Parcells wouldn't draft him due to his rules on drafting a qb:
I think Miami would be a bad situation for him because of "Rumored coke problems" but wherever he goes, he's screwed! I guarantee he won't be taking anymore of his dad's advice after thisThis isn't a surprise. I don't see him at Ohio State. West Virginia might be a good fit for him. Richt runs a pro style so Miami would work for him, but I would hate to see him go to Miami. I like the idea of him at WVU some mid-level school.

I don't think he's a good fit for Meyer's system. I'm not saying he won't go there, but a different school would be better. Some of the Pac 12 schools may be a good option for him. I just hope he goes somewhere where I won't have to hear about him much.
His agent and accountant calls it success. I didn't say Grier is going to win SB's but you are kidding yourself if you think he isn't going to get drafted because of some policy Bill Parcells spouted based on league practices from 2-3 decades ago.The game hasn't changed enough for the 26-27-60 rule. It still shows a high percentage of being correct for 1st round success. The game hasn't changed enough that people like Cam Newton who didn't have 26 starts are the norm. Look at your top tier quarterbacks in the NFL, almost all if not all with consistent success fall under the 26-27-60 rule and most of the guys who have consistent success also fall under the Parcells rules.
Compare both group of criteria to the top tier quarterbacks in the NFL with multi year success....
Sam Bradford is just an example of bad management, not of success.
Can't run? I'd argue he was more elusive than Treon in avoiding the rush. But I agree with you that Meyer's system is not a good fit for him. He's a terrible fit in Meyer's system. He's a John Brantley type (who can't run) and we saw how that went (Brantley in Meyer's system). Meyer's QBs need to be able to run, period.
Honestly, those who think Grier is a "top" QB must not have watched much of what he did at UF. Go look at the Missouri game, his last as a UF player, and it was horrible. He had a couple of decent games (Ole Miss) and the comeback vs. UT (because they went to the 2-minute offense). Otherwise, I was unimpressed and I'm not sure why anyone else was.
