Yeah, sad but probably inevitable as I look at the depth chart and the likely recruiting class.

Do you remember during Muschamp's first season and into his second? You just knew this wasn't THE guy. I feel similar to that. It's an awful and helpless feeling.

I thought I read that the recent raises made our staff one of the higher paid - did I not hear that right?

Summers, Nord, and Nuss each make about 500K.

We're in the middle of the pack in the SEC.

Just looked it up - I believe this is before the raises, but at the time we were 15th in the country in Staff Pay, 7th in the SEC.

When you look at total pay (HC + Staff) I see the following outpaying:

AL - $12.3M
UM - $11.3M
OSU - $9.9M
LSU - $9.8M
FSU - $9.4M
AUB - $9.4M
TAM - $9.4M
OK - $9.2M
UTex - $9.0M
UGA - $8.8M
USCe - $8.0M
UF - $7.7M
Clemson - $7.6M
Miss - $7.4M
UCLA - $7.3M
Iowa - $7.2M

I'm sure I made a couple of math errors, and these are from last year (i.e. it has Richt and Spurrier here), but still probably pretty representative.

I would certainly expect us to be in the top 5, and at/near that $10M mark.

As fans, we gotta do a better job of doing a better job. We are gonna fix the things that we can fix. Its our pledge to the players and coaches. I'm sorry. We were hoping for an undefeated season. A lot of good will come of this. You will never see a fan base be a better fan base. You will never see Gator fans cheer harder and louder than ever before. You will never see us pump harder than ever before. God Bless.

You get what you pay for! I was hoping we'd figure that out once the new AD comes in but they seem to be letting "the past regime" determine what our future will be and "they" are botching the search. Several people have already said "no thanks" on the job because they wouldn't be able to come in and fix what is broken which is what is needed for us to get back on top. It's been very disappointing!

That's exactly what we have to do! The reason Mac hired Nord/Skip/Dixon & kept Summers was because of the budget constraints by our Athletic Department. Although..Skip/Dixon have been lights out (on the field/on the trail) they weren't exactly top tier hires. For some unexplainable reason we continue to handcuff the HC by not giving him the resources he needs to recruit/win in this age of CFB. It's frustrating as hell to see our half ass approach while other programs continue to upgrade!
This makes complete sense. Ultimately, it falls on the Head Coach as far as recruiting goes, but you're only as good as your support staff as well. It'd be refreshing that if this trend continues, to clean house as far as Summers, Nord, and whoever else needs to go with them, crack the checkbook open and get some great position coaches and top level recruiters. Schematically, Xs and Os wise, Mac does a pretty good job of putting the offense together. If he could get the horses, ie: more Jawaan Taylor types on the oline, Callaway and Cleveland types at receiver, etc, we'd be in good shape on that side of the ball. Collins and Rumph need to be busting their asses to get some really touted space eaters on the defensive line, because after this year, we're gonna be in awful shape there and at linebacker unless Moon, Joseph and others go on the Grier supplement diet.

I'm better Summers will be gone next year. The next O-Line coach is already working for Mac, as a special advisor.

Will we be able to find a decent O-line coach for "only" 500K a year? That seems like a lot of money for an O-line coach.

Hell, I'm as competent at coaching oline and recruiting as Summers, I'll do it for 500K a year

Nice writeup as always Cover.

This is really one of the issues we have right now with our scheduling. We need to play tougher non-conference opponents. I know we play Michigan next year, but I am not even saying we need to play a top Big 5 school, but we need to play against teams that can expose some of our flaws so they can get fixed before big games.

When we play UMASS and North Texas I think our players get false confidence about how good they are and how easy it is. There isn't anything you can do about Kentucky not being very good, but you can control playing the worst teams in D1. At least figure out a team that will challenge you.

I certainly don't disagree with anything you're saying, but this one is squarely on the coaches. Yeah, DooshBagU ran off at the mouth and embarrassed themselves, but the coaches put this team in a great position to succeed in the first half, then took a dump all over them in the third quarter with the conservative playcalling.....on BOTH sides of the ball. The defensive unit became complacent because of how UT was stepping on their dycks in the first half with drops and turnovers, too.

Just a total bunglefk from all angles really.

Absolutely agree. The coaches deserve the majority of the blame on this and hopefully we will see some of them being held accountable.

Having a punt returner catch the ball inside the 5 yard line twice is 100% a coaching issue. It should be drilled into him to keep his heals on the 10 yard line and let the ball go over his head!

I mean....that's middle school football special teams when teams first start punting.

Stand on the 12, if it goes over your head. Let it go.
:exactly:

Once in a great while, a guy gets lucky with a kick that'll just die at the 2 or your coverage team will get down there and down it inside the 10, but more often than not, it's a touchback.

Both of the ones he fielded would have put the ball on the 25.
