Who knows? We may already have our QB with Franks. And who's to say Allen can't be that guy? We won't know until they get thrown out there.
Take a look at the Darnold kid from USC this past year. He was rated below Franks and just above Allen. He redshirted his first year, and then got the start in the 4th game of his RS-F year, leading them to a Rose Bowl championship and a Top 5 finish.
Point is, you never really know if you're going to strike lightning until you throw the kid into the fire of a live, tough, competitive game (ala Matthews or Wuerffel).
