Excellent, but two years too late.Word is... Hughes will be going to South Carolina and take the same job there.
Mary Anna said Nuss was gone per his source. I think he was legitimately told this. Either his source is full of it or not as plugged in as he's led Mary Anna to believe. Even if he's not plugged in, there was probably at least some talk that he picked up on. Nuss is probably on a short leash this season.Nuss and drew hughes have been the least productive guys on staff. Don't see how the uaa hasn't stepped in with nuss.
Maybe it's because nuss only makes about 500k and no decent oc would work for so little.WHy can't it be Nuss? I would actually give Mac a fighting chance if he replaced Nuss with someone better. Mac whiffed on 2/3 hires so far.
I thought it was a decent read. Spoke to his organization and drive. The comment by a former player was insightful. Time will tell on him. I'm still hoping we hire an experienced OL coach and Davis takes over for Nord. Just wishful thinking, no expectationsWhy is this a good read? Because he was an undersized OL at Oklahoma? I have no idea if this guy is good or not, but this article does nothing to help me form an opinion. I can't say I am excited about hiring an OL coach from North Texas, but hey... I am hoping he is a diamond in the rough and a great recruiter.

You mean I can't wait before I grab a pitchfork? You're such a bad fan. We're supposed celebrate every move mac makes.
Like alcoholica, I take from the article the guy's drive (his own bible of drills tells me he is always looking to improve) and heart (caring about kids on and off the football field). Sounds like a nice guy that might have the right make up to be a real good coach. Doesn't sound like he's a real good coach yet.
Two seasons ago he spent three weeks with Jacksonville Jaguars offensive line coach Andy Heck, and last season he did the same with Seattle Seahawks offensive line coach Tom Cable, soaking up as much could and figuring out how to adapt it to the Vikings.
"I just want to learn as much as I can," he said. "When I finish coaching I want to be known as the best to have ever done it. I know that in order to do that I've got to figure out what's cutting edge, what's ahead of the curve and what are guys doing to get the most out of their players. That motivates me. I walk around with a chip on my shoulder. I want to be the best. I don't read the hype and feel like I've arrived. No, I'm just getting started."
