We've become known as DBU. Who was the best of the best?

We'll do a separate safety poll later.

Sheppard, Jenkins, or Haden. Take your pick. I voted for Lito because SQ was on TV after his pick against UGA.

Great poll. So many standouts. Jenkins although a headcase, shut down some quality WRs (AJ Green, Alshon Jeffrey, and Julio Jones had a tough time against him) while at UF.

I voted for Ha(y)den because of the unique last name.

In my estimation, Janoris Jenkins was the best cover corner "I" ever watched in college. Don't just watch the highlight reels, they're designed to be favorable. Go back and watch those games. There were times I thought he had to be holding or something. No way could a guy stay that close to someone. But no, he was just that good.

A footnote on Williams: I thought I remembered him as a safety alongside Oliver, but to be sure I checked Wiki, which refers to him as a corner in the body of the bio but safety in the right-hand column. I think the corner reference is a mistake. He was a good one and I felt he belonged in the discussion. His hit on Melvin Bratton was one of the most vicious I've seen.

Mods, can you delete his name and correct the spelling on Haden? Thx.

C'mon man! Ryan Smith hands down.
Lol. No. Just no. He isnt in the top 100.

Ryan Smith and Wondy were easily the worst CBs we've ever had start a game. I'd probably add Mo Jenkins if he actually started at all. May have for a game or two due to injuries.

I LIKE Ryan Smith, he got all he could from his very limited talent, and yet, he was a walkon level player. Hell, he was a walkon type player at Utah (and lost his job when Whittingham landed a couple of new freshmen). However, he would have been a disaster if we had to play him in man and if Reggie Nelson wasn't back there cleaning it up like a champ. We played a lot of zone in 2006 primarily bc Smith couldn't cover. There's a reason he lasted like two weeks in an NFL camp and was cut at the first roster cut, never to be seen again.

I'd put both Weary and Smith on a list before Tabor. What has Tabor done really?

Okay, then where's Fred Weary?
I like Fred Weary and Eli Williams. They are probably top 20 at least.

We have just had a ton of good Dbs. Many 5 star guys being 5 stars and even more in that group just ever so slightly behind them, maybe 4+ guys, all SEC but maybe not first team All AAs.

I went with Lito primarily because he also happened to be an elite punt returner and was very solid vs the run. However, is Lito better than Haden, not really imo. The both were the best CBs in the country in their day.

All those guys on the list (and several more) were really damn good.

BTW, Keiwan Ratliff isn't in the top group either.
