Is Minnesota's loss even an upset. I think they were only a 1 point favorite because they were the 5 seed.

I don't feel good about Virginia, they've been scoring lately.

UVa has an ill forward, Wilkins, who plays 27 min per game and grabs the same number of boards per game as Egbunu and if he is out as expected Saturday that evens things up for UF. UVa played 7 guys meaningful minutes on Friday, they were with their per game and shooting average:

Hall 6'5" 210 lbs, 27.6 min, 8.7 pts, 4.4 rebs, 1.9 asts, 1.0 TOs, 44.7% inside the arc, 38.o% from the arc, 81.0% FTs, ,
Perrantes 6'2" 189 lbs, 32.1 min, 12.5 pts, 3.1 rebs, 3.8 asts, 1.7 TOs, 43.4% inside the arc, 38.6% from the arc, 76.9% FTs,
Thompson 6'4" 185 lbs, 19.9 min, 6.1 pts, 1.5 rebs, 2.2 asts, 1.0 TOs, 44.9% inside the arc, 36.6% from the arc, 64.5% FTs,
Guy 6'3" 165 lbs, 18.5 min, 7.8 pts, 1.7 rebs, 1.4 asts, 0.6 TOs, 38.8% inside the arc, 50.5% from the arc, 71.4% FTs,
Salt 6'10" 240 lbs, 18.3 min, 3.6 pts, 3.9 rebs, 0.4 asts, 0.6 TOs, 54.0% inside the arc, no shot from the arc, 48.8% FTs,
Shayok 6'6" 200 lbs, 20.3 min, 8.6 pts, 2.4 rebs, 1.0 asts, 1.1 TOs, 48.2% inside the arc, 30.0% from the arc, 77.1% FTs,
Jerome 6'5" 192 lbs 13.6 min, 4.4 pts, 1.5 rebs, 1.5 asts, 1.7 TOs, 49.5% inside the arc, 41.2% from the arc, 77.8% FTs,

Often UVa was playing with five guys 6'7 or 6'6" and under Friday. I am encouraged that this is another matchup that Egbunu being hurt does not kill UF.

Take Perrantes out of the game offensively and we win by 10. In all seriousness, Hayes and Robinson should have a field day in the paint cause in reality UVA has no one that can guard either of them inside. Unfortunately, we haven't shown any real desire to post bigs on offense even before John got hurt and I don't see it happening tomorrow. It will be a nail biter and if Hayes gets in foul trouble, we will be in trouble.

I agree if UF's PGs have a better day than him, UF should do well. Hill and Chiozza did shockingly well against EtSU. I am also hoping Allen and Barry have decent games as Robinson will likely regress to his mean.

Silly article is stupid. I'm not seeing much there that makes any sense.
UVA gets a B+ for going down by 15 and coming back to win by 5, against a 12 seed.
We trailed once in our game by one point, and won by 15 vs a 13-seed, and get a C?
Makes total sense.

NWestern gets an A - thanks to Fisher-Davis. I guess they're used to getting A's though. Wonder what grade Vandy would have got if they had won.
ND with a C+ (better grade than us) - and they could have lost at the end if 12-seed Princeton knocks down that last 3 attempt.
Bucknell hangs tough with WVA (another 4-13 matchup like ours), WVU wins by 6, and they get a B+?
Purdue gets a B+ for beating 13-seed Vermont by 10.
Zona gets a B+ for beating a 15-seed by 18.
Iowa State wins by 9 over 12-seed Nevada - they get an A, of course.
Edit: Missed one - FSU beats a 14-seed by 6, they get a B.

Chip Patterson is not a fan of the Gators, apparently. Just read is 'Bio' - he's been covering FB and BB since 2010 (an entire 7 years of experience!). He's a North Carolina alum - I'm now rooting against UNC.

So the Gators received the lowest grade of any winning team in Thursday's lineup? That is silly. Winning by 15 over a team that many "experts" picked to pull the upset is viewed as the worst winning performance out of 16 games? The ETSU coach got it right in his pregame speech....this is a "good, not great Gator team". But good is not bad.

It was not a memorable performance but it was also not a nail-biter. I would certainly not classify it as the least impressive win of Thursday's round 1. I would bet that the "grader" in the article picked ETSU to upset the Gators. Even Sports Illustrated in their print edition (yes, I still like reading a paper version of the magazine) had ETSU advancing to play Virginia.

A grade of C is about right even though we were a B at least in the 2nd half. Virginia will be tough with that defense they play but I like our chances with them having a shorter lineup in there for much of the game.

I can see a case for someone giving UF a C, but not that guy with the curve he was grading on. Did you reallly get the feel UF had the worst performance of any winner on Thursday?
