Guy and gals... Franks was given every opportunity to take the starting QB job this spring. He was ok in the Orange & Blue game but, he was certainly not impressive enough to be the starter in the fall.

Until proven wrong, I believe Del Taco is the starting QB at UF. Franks and Trask, who played much better with the # 1 offense, are both at least year and, a new OC, away from starting in the SEC.

But you think LDR has?

He won't even be ready to go at the beginning of the season, much less be "impressive enough to be the starter in the fall".
Noodle arm will remain a noodle arm. He's done man.

Mac will be fired if he goes 6-6. Winning the East twice can't undo that suckage. If he is retained the entire AD should be purged. UF should act like we're a football school, or leave the SEC and join CUSA. It's that simple. We're gonna lose millions and the cord cutting is about to hit home.
I agree with this...6-6 should get his ass canned. I don't think that record happens, but I'd completely support canning him if it did.

He wont and they wont. Im resigned to the fact that this shyt continues for three more years at least (2 Butters years and a transition year).

Enjoy watching that fat fvkking idiot doing his Fat Fulmer "WTF is happening" look on our sidelines.

The great thing about coming to this board is that it definitely tempers expectations. At this point if we win 8 games I'll be happy since we will have out performed the 6-6 predictions!

Regardless of who is our starting QB this year Franks, Del Rio, Clarabelle, et al. If Mac doesn't show DRAMATIC improvement on offense, he should be fired. End of story.
National championship teams have been built in less than three years so how long does an offense take?
How many coaching staff changes do you get to make before it becomes you that is the problem?
How many topflight QB's have to pass through your hands before you can recruit one?
How much suffering do the rest of you want to endure before you have had enough?

These are the questions I will ask if our offense has not improved significantly this year.

I was pretty sure Muschamp was going to be fired, even though it took a year longer than it should. I don't feel this way about Mac, unless he has a 3 win season or something (which I admit is a possibility). In other words, I agree that he's going to be the coach AT LEAST another 3 seasons. There's no end in sight.

My personal expectations for this season are extremely low. Hate to say it, but I think Franks is going to suck balls.

Guys , some on here don't think it's reasonable to expect a QB to do much until their junior season. So we can write this year off already

I wish I could disagree with you but I fear that you are correct.

We hired a second rate coach but then decided to protect him with a second rate AD with his predecessor standing over his shoulder

I have hopes that Franks will turn into a decent QB with the ability to scramble some. Give us a decent oline and we should be decent.

If we somehow open the season with losses to Michigan and Tenn the meltdown will be one for the ages.

The season record will be more important than the offense ranking.
That said, the record is dictated by the ability of the 3 phases of the game.
I think we will see improvement on offense (so long as LDR is on the bench), and a step back on defense, but not huge unless injuries occur.
We have the horses on offense, and I think many people forget just how bad LDR actually is, and just how little he can actually throw. Franks has the skillset, all he needs to do is not be a turnover machine. He could be, I'll admit, but I also believe he's learning quickly.

National championship teams have been built in less than three years so how long does an offense take?
Indeed they have. The Saban's and Meyer's of the world are a rarity too. That's not an excuse for anyone else...just a reality that those kinds of coaches simply don't grow on trees. I'm all for paying coaches like them whatever it takes....just find me a coach like them.

How many coaching staff changes do you get to make before it becomes you that is the problem?
Mac has only made changes this season, after 2 seasons at the helm. While Nuss and Nord should have been changed too, seems to me that the changes that were made this offseason have been pretty well regarded thus far...we'll see how that pans out through the season.

How many topflight QB's have to pass through your hands before you can recruit one?
How many have we had? 1? And he was popped for PED's, wanted a guarantee, and bolted when he couldn't get it. I mean, no one in their right mind is considering LDR a top flight QB are they? We know Harris and Appleby weren't and were never supposed to be.

How much suffering do the rest of you want to endure before you have had enough?
Suffering? :lol2:

By the same people who thought Callahan and Nusschump were stupendous hires.

They sure have, but I SERIOUSLY doubt any of those miracle turn-arounds happened after inheriting 6 total offensive linemen, 3 being walk-ons or no more talented than a walk-on.

I went to watch him play in the state championship game excited with lots of hope. I came away disappointed. He kind of reminded you of a guy on stilts. He was tall and could see the field but was slow. I didn't think he evaded the rush very well. Under pressure he threw the ball hard. He has such a strong arm there is little arch. That means if he is not dead on target, the receiver has very little chance to adjust. I'm hoping they give Toney a shot at starting. I think he could be the good news we have been waiting on. He's brings excitement to the offense. I can see him starting by the third game. In the spring game he was the only excitement we had. Let's face it, he's our hope.
He's the one who can save CM's job. And
I'm hoping for good things this year.

One more thing. We have to remember the athletes from the great state of Florida on average are better than most out of state. Up north the basketball recruits are better than the ones we have down here. The big factor is the weather, of course. Some Florida 3 stars are four stars. That gives me hopes regarding the players we now have.
