No, not really.
You have to wonder why he thinks this would be a good fit. Maybe he's more confident about landing the starting role? Mac and Nuss selling him on tailoring the offense for him?

The joke is on us. This thread is now at some 34 pages. Why? Because we all know what we have at the QB position and coaching. Whether we are excited or curious or whatever, we know we need another teams project to have any chance. This does not bode well for the long term success of Clarabelle and her handlers.

I'm not excited by this. I've never seen him play, but it isn't as though he's been successful. There are always possibilities, but his size and stats suggest he's more like Treon Harris than Russell Wilson. (Treon's highlight videos look better than Zaire's. He was in a lot more competitive games.)

The upside: another competitor can press everyone to step up. LDR can hopefully gain a medical waiver.

The downside: Mac clings to tatters of experience and thereby dampens the young QBs' development.

Unless they really think he can lead us to the SEC championship, or they've seen enough to lose faith in Franks et al, he's a reasonable backup and camp arm. I'd love for him to prove me wrong.

Why would we want LDR to gain a medical waiver. We've seen his game. No thanks. I have no confidence that Zaire is the answer. I also have no confidence that if we had the answer that the current administration would know what to with it. All I have is hope.

I heard that whatever school Zaire goes to will petition for a sixth year of eligibility. And he'll probably get it.

No way Zaire is going somewhere to sit for two years.

QB depth chart?

1. Zaire
2. LDR (once healthy?)
3. Franks
4. Trask
5. Toney
6. Allen (will probably redshirt)
7. Sproles

Well I guess we will have no depth issues at QB at least.
That's the opposite of depth. I don't see ome qb on that list.

Grier was better than Brantley by a mile

This isn't a good move imo. Next year's team is headed no where regardless of whether or not Zaire comes here so why not build for the future? So we can go into year 4 with another green qb? This is just not good for the program. Not too mention how terrible a fit Zaire is for this system and staff. Not excited even a little bit.

This still amazes me that is has been soooooo long since we've had just an average QB.
Brantley would have been manageable if he wasn't crammed into a spread option. It absolutely ruined him. Not that he would've been All-SEC or any better, but probably better than anyone since Tebow. We can debate Grier, but that's pretty much hypothetical. Will find out soon enough if Grier is going to be any good.

FIFY. That's not depth, that's a trash pile.

LDR unless hurt will start. Zaire will take over. Not having Zaire available for the Spring hurt us badly. He won't have enough time in three weeks to learn the playbook, but Mac won't stay with LDR for long if he is sucking. If LDR is still hurt, I think Zaire does start in place of Franks.

Not sure what they do with Toney. My gut is that his running package stays (rather than Zaire running, can't afford to take more risks with him), and that we will see him too in game one. However, not sure how to work that into the depth chart because he isn't going to be the every play QB no matter what injuries we have.

Geez, didn't Del Rio already get some kind of waiver, wouldn't think he would be eligible for another one. That is unless the NCAA is just trying to punish our A$$. Lol

Brantley was doing ok his last year, until Bama broke him.

Zaire isn't eligible for a 6th year. You get a sixth year only if you are injured in your 5th year, and obviously, he hasn't been. You can have one redshirt or medical redshirt. From there if you miss another year injured you just miss another year, unless it is your fifth year in which you were injured.

Same with LDR for whoever said it.

They'll still bring Toney in the game for a couple of plays, and let him run the zone read exclusively. Like it will fool anyone, and get stuffed every time. With Zaire coming in, this kind of pushes Toney to receiver right?

Understood. Just repeating what I read in multiple locations. I thought if you miss two years because of injury you can petition for a sixth year of eligibility. I don't know or care enough to know about Zaire's insignificant career prior to UF. Was he injured during two seasons? IDK either.
