I can't post the pic from this computer, but here's the article:

Photo: Former Florida QB Shane Matthews jokes about son's recruiting visit to Georgia

https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/s...matthews-jokes-sons-recruiting-visit-georgia/

Following his incredibly successful career in the early 1990s as Florida’s quarterback, no way Shane Matthews’ son suits up for Georgia, right? According to the Twitter account for Matthews, his son Luke has already donned the Red and Black at least once during his recruitment.

A rising junior quarterback out of Gainesville High School, Luke Matthews threw for 1,391 yards and 12 touchdowns during his sophomore season last year. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound prospects recently took a recruiting visit to Athens following a trip to Clemson and a camp visit with Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh. While on the trip to Athens, the younger Matthews suited up in a uniform all too familiar to his father.

Judging by Shane’s response to this photo, the elder Matthews wasn’t a huge fan of the look:

Shane Matthews was Steve Spurrier’s first quarterback in Gainesville and helped lead Florida to the SEC Championship in 1991. During his playing career, Matthews was named SEC Player of the Year in 1990 and 1991 and earned First Team All-American status in 1992. He threw for 9.287 yards and 74 touchdowns during his three-year college career before heading to the NFL where he played for the Bears, Redskins, and Bills.

Luke Matthews does not currently have a recruiting profile on 247Sports but he could be a name to watch in the 2019 recruiting cycle. Especially if he winds up playing at an SEC school outside of Gainesville.

I'm a fan of giving scholarships to legacies. We give scholarships to so many projects anyways. We always end up with a couple more scholarships every year. It's actually become rare that we are at the scholarship limit.

I shot up from 5'10 to 6'2 between spring of 10th grade and beginning of 11th grade so I wouldn't worry too much at this point. There is plenty of time for him to add a good amount of height.

I was 5'11 in the 9th grade.....and never grew again (height wise!! :D ).

The story does say he's "listed" at 5'10, but who knows how much he's grown since last year? He could be over 6' by now. I just haven't heard much about him in recruiting, but he was only a sophomore.

Statistical calculations based on age, parents' height says Luke will wind up (QB pun intended) 6' tall.

I did as well. I shot it from about 5'8 to 6'2 between my sophomore and end of my junior year.

I take it they didn't test for PEDs back then. Amirite?

I agree we should make room for legacy players, but you are in today's recruiting world. You take the visits that you think benefit you and when there behave like you want to be there. I see nothing wrong here, after all we might not even offer him at all.

Shane should turn in his Gator card for even letting his son make a trip to that draft-dodging loving ****hole.
