We couldn't buy an offensive touchdown the first 7 quarters of the season and we're wondering out loud about whether he should have scored?? :lol2:
You didnt see it but McElroy and McElchump were both critical and said you should never put the game way. The Rb should have fallen down to give Vandy a chance recover a botched snap or fumble while we run out the clock. Besides, we might have needed the Time of Possession to win the game.

Apparently it is rude to score on a guest and put the game away.

Either option wins the game, so it's irrelevant.
Tell that to Clint Stoerner.

He fumbled while trying to take a knee and run out the clock and gift-wrapped Tennessee a championship and a "perfect season".

Its easy to say score until a team gets that miracle win by scoring and getting the onside kick etc. Then the player would be branded an idiot for doing that.
And if there were a fumbled center/QB exchange??? Franks and McCoy have been having issues all season. You always score.

Stupid question. Did we win? DId he run for a TD? Malik is a big reason weve won the last two and sans a fumble a big reason against UT. Next question............

He wasn't trying to take a knee, you lying dummy. He was rolling out to pass, for God's sake. It was play action.

I want someone to name a single time in the history of football that a team has lost taking a knee in the victory formation. Law?

Hahahaha, your memory is faulty old man.

The Stoernover was not on a victory formation kneel down. Its was second down in a two point game and if Arky didn't move the chains they would have given the billies the ball with 30 seconds or so to get into field goal range. He fumbled when he tripped and was scrambling around. For you to imply that this was a victory formation fumble is completely false. That, to my knowledge, has NEVER happened at this level. The only victory formation fumble I can remember was Okie State, and they still won the game. You are worried about something that is so improbably that it has literally never happened.

I'm shocked that any fans of the team would question this.

What am I missing?

After all the years of offensive ineptitude, we finally have a decent offensive day and some of you have the audacity to agree that we shouldn't have scored. To hell with your logic and reasoning. Frankly, I'm sick of Mac having this thought process, also. Let's out smart luck by being over aware of every situation. Screw that! This team needs an edge. I say score as many as you can and let the chips fall where they may. Great teams always play with aggression. When good teams call off the dogs they put their 2nd string in. And there's no drop off because those guys want to prove that they can play with the 1s. This notion of let's not be aggressive because we're too worried about what may go wrong is the softest thing I've ever heard.

Remember hanging 50 on UGA between the hedges? Guaran-damn-tee you Spurrier didn't have a "hammer" play where a player falls down instead of scoring.

Think of it this way: If Davis had gotten tackled after making the line to gain, we would have a first down and gone into the victory formation and taken a knee on first down with just over a minute to play. After they reset the ball, we would have taken the 2nd down snap with around 30 seconds to play. There would have been no 3rd down snap. We would have walked off the field. instead, Vandy had the ball with 1:30 remaining and more than a zero percent chance to tie to the game. And certainly much more than a zero percent chance of one of our defenders suffering an injury. Either way the likelihood of them winning was uber-low. However, ....IF Davis had shocked everybody and gone down at the 1, would anybody here actually say he was a pussy dumbass? I wouldn't. Nobody would.

Going down was technically the safest way to preserve the win.

Ok, Davis scored. What if... on the ensuing kickoff, the vandy returner fumbles it and we scoop it up and score another TD to go up 21? And what if the same thing happens on the next kickoff, and we score another TD to go up 28? We can play the what ifs all day, both ways. Not taking a TD to go up 14 points is playing not to lose, and I'm sorry, but I will never agree that is the way the game should be played. That kind of offensive strategy left here a couple of years ago and went to South Carolina. I'm disappointed that it seems to have shown up again in the form of Butters. I would prefer it to go away and never come back.

Points win games. There's no such thing as too many of them.
