Another article saying "we should have known" and "Mac was an arrogant SOB." Very interesting stuff especially this statement

"McElwain groused privately that he wouldn’t have taken the job or would have at least had a better contract if he knew how poor the facilities and infrastructure were. He closed ranks and went to work trying to fix what he saw as a huge mess."

Is it an excuse? Sure but kids like all the bells and whistles these days. Still good coaching can transform the product on the field, which would lead to better recruiting classes and Mac wasn't cutting it.

It is always funny how these guys have the guts to write articles like this right after the coach is fired...

Yes, Dooley and his ilk have known from Day 1 this was a bad hire that wasn't going to work out, but they had to remain in lock-step to keep from losing access. Nothing but softball questions at press conferences for 2.5 years. It's sickening.

And LOL at Mac acting like he wouldn't have taken the job had he known about facilities. Good Lord does he think highly of himself. His recruiting excuse was that he couldn't get these guys because our facilities suck. It's interesting that Urban Meyer didn't seem to have a problem. I also don't recall Urban Meyer complaining publicly one time about the facilities. He had more brains than to embarrass his bosses publicly.

You knew the writing on the wall when the Gainesville media isn't afraid of the backlash from the UAA/coaching staff. That is why them openly discussion on the local radio if McElwain would be replaced after the Tennessee game was huge.

Mac should feel lucky to have ever positioned himself for a job like this. It's like one day you're building a model airplane in your moms basement and getting a call to head Lockheed Martin the next.

This job was underserved for him. And hopefully he never gets a chance to ruin a top p5 school again.

**** you Mac

This is similar to what I said yesterday.

All these bold, aggressive "journalists" that have continued to drink the Kool-aid and say nothing and now they preach to us like we were the ones that refused to accept the obvious. Most of us, and most of the nation, have been screaming for at least a year and instead of supporting our concerns, given all this inside info they had, guys like Dooley ridiculed us for being impatient and unreasonable and scolded us for the negative impact our griping would have on recruiting.

We won't even get into the fact that everyone in the administration, starting with Stricklin, are all acting like they have wanted to get rid of him for over a year now. I guess we are supposed to forget the fact that Stricklin extended this clown back in the spring.

I posted in the comments (awaiting moderation) -

And yet, knowing all of these details and this information "as it happened," not one single member of media that cover the Gators valued the success of the football program more than their UF media passes to expose McElwain for what he really was - a complete fraud. I have watched every single press conference, and not until the writing was clearly on the wall (after the UGA loss) did the media start pressing McElwain with the "hard" questions.

Mac did all kinds of crap. Almost all of it not related to the reason he was hired - to fix the offense and develop QBs. In 2.5 seasons of football he never even started to address the needs of his hire. He wasn't brought in to upgrade the facilities that's the AD's job. So he decided that he would spend his time permanently ignoring his job while mouthing off about how bad the admin has been doing theirs. This guy just plain sucked. Muschamp was the worst Gator coach I'd seen until this skill-less bastid. Hell, he couldn't even conduct a presser or an on-field interview without coming off as a bumbling, mentally disorganized nonsensical bore. This guy should have been kneed in the nads and thrown out the door a long time ago. What Foley was looking at when he hired this dumbazz is anybody's guess.

Time to move on!!! Don't know who we should go after *cough sf *

As far as him having no clue about facilities, wouldn't you think it would be standard for a prospective coach to get a tour of campus before signing a $15+ million deal? If he wasn't offered, shouldn't he have asked?

Yes, Dooley, my former media friend and others were all at the same meeting where Mac whined off the record and then gave the scoop to Forde. My buddy told me about all this after I questioned him after hearing the GC podcast Monday. He said he thought he'd told me. I have been saying all year on the Gas that I am shocked Shane Matthews not only gets to be on Russell's show on Mondays, but has received and still has his on show. The way he's not afraid to go against the company line. I've even sent praise to Miller @ GC and Miles from SECC for calling it like it is.

Also, got lots of crap for not liking McElroy. Glad to see I'm not the only one

It's been a long time since I read a Dooley article. I'm still not sure why I read this one. It was actually a decent article until this sentence:

"For a lot of Florida fans, it felt like something that had almost come out of nowhere."

:rolleyes3: Please. Most Florida fans saw this coming 100 miles away.

Dooley Doesn’t know what the hell he’s talking about. I remember when the negotiations were happening he talked about demanding an IPF if he came across. And this was before he signed the contract. We talked about how Muschamp didn’t have the balls to ask for one.

I refuse to read any of this moron media guys articles. They are always correct after the fact, b/c they spent the entire time genuflecting in front of these coaches. They have ZERO credibility. Many of us who have been around a long time wanted Fooley axed the day he hired Zook. We did not need him to coach a game to know he was a buffoon, but Tooley and all the rest were genuflecting how great the hire was. Most, myself included were agnostic on the Chump hire, but it did not take us long to know he could not coach. But still the morons genuflected until the bitter end. It was during year 1, that some of us saw Butter's inability to manage games. so of course 3 years later, the genuflecters were correct from the beginning. Tell them to open their ears occasionally and listen to others, or perhaps open their own eyes and watch a game. If they are not going to do that, then that might as well circle one another and blow!!!

From what little I know, and for all his shortcomings as a coach, I liked Will Muschamp a lot better than I liked McElwain. At least in his public comments Muschamp never backhanded the UF administraton although he did give it to the fans with his "get a grip" comment. Again, as far as I know, Muschamp was a hard worker, was liked by boosters, and people in the office.

When McEwain was hired I caught hell in a post I made that questioned why we didn't hire Lane Kiffin instead of Jim McElwain. I can understand why people in response posted a meme of a soldier with a cigarette dangling out of his mouth saying "Never go full retard". Do I want Kiffin at UF? Hell no not when there are coaches out there like Scott Frost. But I guarantee you we would have put up better offensive numbers and would have had better assistant coaches with Kiffin than with Butters. I was only trying to show people that McElwain was not a slam dunk hire by any means particularly when you looked at his work at Bama compared to Kiffin's work there.

I tried to like McElwain and at one time thought he was a good guy. Maybe he is. But with everything coming out now I know the UF job was too big for him. He was billed by Foley as an offensive guru. In the end McEwain only proved to be offensive.

**** Foley for letting the facilities get so bad that this sh!t stain of a coach gets credit for improving them. I dislike him more and more every single day. Do NOT let this man have any input on ANY decisions related to this program again. That is all.

How does Dooley have the BALLS to write that article? He's basically saying, I knew it all along, but I reported, said, and did nothing. I only served as a mouthpiece. OK Dools, you were stuck. Maybe you thought you had to do that. But you just came right out and said plain as day, don't ever believe another thing I write because it wont be what I really think.

Not that that is any news to me or the rest of us.

"If you want to find the high point of the Jim McElwain Era at Florida, it was that perfect October night in 2015 when the Gators throttled third-ranked Ole Miss 38-10."

Been saying this for 2 years. He peaked at 6-0.
